Question about FW ranks and standing gains

I was wondering, do you get a lot of faction standing from fw promotions? I'm trying to raise my minmatar standing and I'm trying to figure out if fw would be a viable way to do it, or am I better off running level 4 missions?

if you get all promotions your faction standing will rise from 0.0 to 7.0

Thanks for the reply, I guess I'll have to give it some more thought then.

You were just trolled so hard it's not funny.

You gain standings the same way as normal mission running...maybe with a bit more but honestly I would not know. Ranks mean absolutely nothing and is a separate mechanic unto itself which reflects your participation in your faction's NPC corp's agenda.

Hehe, I see. Whether I was trolled or not, you do not gain standing the same way in fw missions as you do in normal missions. To be more specific, you only gain corp standing the same way. You don't get any storyline missions at all after completing 16 fw missions, and so you can't improve your factions standings only by running fw missions.

I was under the impression that you gain faction standing when you're promoted to a new rank in the faction navy (provided that it's the first time you reach that rank). I've been told this by several people, and in my mind this would also make sense considering that supposedly there is no other way to increase your faction standings through fw.

Since you brought this up, I did some more digging and found this: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Factional_Warfare

"When your standing with your own NPC FW corporation reaches certain points, you will get promoted to a new rank.

When this happens you will get a boost to that factions standing too, and the corresponding gains and losses to all other factions in the game, much like you do when you complete a storyline mission. "

In other words, I don't know if the numbers that Bad Messenger provided me are reliable, but you do get faction standings from being promoted, and I'd be interested to know how much.

I have actually started paying a bit more attention to this process only recently. If you open your character window and enter > Standings, then right click on a corp/alliance/faction, you can then choose >transactions, and thus monitor every gain and loss of standing towards that entity.

Here's how it works for you

--if you capture plexes, you gain Tribal Liberation Force standings, small gains from 0.02% down, but not towards Minmatar Republic.
--if you capture plexes (or destroy war targets) you also gain Victory Points (that successively translate to Loyaly Points in the Tribal LF lp store), and after rounding up a certain amount of Victory Points (such as 1.000, 2.000, 3.000 etc.) you eventually get promoted to a higher Rank.
--Getting promoted to higher rank earns you TLF and Minmatar republic standings as well, significant boost to them, as of 10% and down proportionally as you increase rank.
--If you run lowsec Tribal Liberation Force missions, you gain much more standings towards TLF, but not towards Minmatar Republic.

so gaining Minmatar Republic standings requires one of the following: A) being promoted through the above B) running storyline missions from relative agents.

please add if i'm forgetting something, its late
