CCP, these forums need some repair work

OK, posts being eaten on "Post" I can live with. I've occasionally experienced it on other forums too, it's an occasional hazard of forum life. Select all and copy, I get it.

But posts being eaten on "Preview" is JUST A BIT TOO ******* MUCH.

Please sort. It makes me just not want to post.

(Cries of relief from the audience; CCP wringing their hands in "cunning ploy" mode. Tinfoil hat on Pirate ).

Just copy it before posting or sending it to preview.

That way if it gets eaten you can redo it in a matter of seconds.

The old system used to eat them too.

Why preview it? I just post and edit it afterwards. I think I only remember losing one post. All the others posts I've done I ctrl-c it before posting, just incase. I haven't managed to do a double post yet, not sure people do that.

Lagging like hell! Like button working sometimes. Dislike button missing. Get ganked every other page.

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

they also need to fix the bbcode parsing errors too

but maybe the forum devs were on the recently layoffs list

Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless you are from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs.

and lets not forget the threads that change position on the front page up to 5 minutes before the newest post gets published to the thread.

I mean I never have seen that in over 20+ years of forum surfing, modding, and admining. The main thread index sees the post but the DB lags behind for an insane period of time before actually posting it to the thread

or the post activity stars on the side that don't seem to relate to anything in particular

Frankly I'm a bit cheesed that you guys fired the web staff while this abomination of a forum is in its current regrettable state.

Well I can't. Its some kind of 'timer' issue, if you spend too long writing a post it will vanish. CCP please fix it.

These forums get ganked too often as well.

Ok, valid point, but not very salient. Wait until you write a wall 'o text or decide you need to look up some information to validate what you're writing. The forum apparently doesn't have any function to keep your session alive when writing a new post. So you better get it done in whatever timeout period is involved. But wait, you also have the "ganked" issue to contend with that just compounds the problem. I'm thinking that they're running their forum on an old 486 somewhere and that it can't respond quickly enough to requests and that their proxy, somewhere on their tranquility cluster picks up where that old 486 fails.

The fact is the forum wouldn't last a week if the users were required to pay for access. Oh wait, we do pay for access. Forum software is mature, well developed and in most cases works flawlessly minus intermediate problems that can't be attributed to the coding. This, however, is unacceptable. Why CCP have left it in this state with NO obvious improvements is another blemish in a long line of horrid customer service.

Here, I've taken more than 5 minutes to write this so let me copy it so I can paste it again when the forum fails to post it.

Don't ban me, bro!

always use wordpad or notepad to write your long posts then copy n paste .

this way u can do multiple long posts and not lose it all when the eve online forum feeds your post to the hamsters

For the record, I'm not anti-Microsoft or anything, but this should have been written in something other than VB or C#.

IIS is a nightmare and slow as sin compared to Apache. And if you're running ASP on Apache, you're doin it wrong.

Yes, I fear that's what the forums are using. :-(

Your posts are not being "eaten" ...they are being rerouted to the forum signatures file.

The forum signatures file is a direct link to the "circuler file".

The circuler file is a direct link to Dark Matter where all input is transmuted into matter we can not see feel or detect.

Yeh it's odd that, I've seen people saying that before, but I really don't remember it happening on the old forums at all, and I used to take my time writing posts as well. Well maybe it did happen once or twice, but so infrequently it doesn't stick in my memory.

Whereas this forum ... it's happening to a memorable extent.
