Lost my subscription offer ship, and cannot get it back! [grumble]

It was my first loss too. Aaawww who am I kidding, it was funny!

By all means, yes I was dismayed at my first ship loss (especially as I could not insure it for more than about 5 Isk). However, I am willing to admit the blame was 50-50.

Just chiming in as a new player here and wanting to say, I'm having a blast (no pun intended)!

Basically, the story is this. I heard through the grape vine that Jita was where all the action was. Killmails were stacking up like old xmas cards, and ships were being smashed left, right and center. So, I decided it was time I tried my hand at some REAL salvaging (you can tell where this is going already!!)

Whoever said about the killmails in Jita were not kidding, busted ships floated in space like yesteryears goldfish. So, with my trusted salvager unit and codebreaker (which I didn't have to use on this occasion) I got to work. Tbh, I was getting my fair share of stuff from picking the bones of lost ships.

Then, I admit, I got greedy. Two people had a duel outside one of Jita's station. I scanned the wreck and saw it had a decent salvage of missiles. I went for it, hoping to do a snatch and grab. If I had aligned my ship correctly before the grab portion of my plan, I may have survived. However, as I said, I got a little careless and a bit lazy. 8 seconds later, my ship joined the wrecks of those I have been stripping.

Would I do it again if I ever hear the trading hub of Eve was under attack? In a heartbeat! Did I learn anything from this experience? Of course I did, success is all well and good, but cockiness will get you killed. But, more importantly, did I earn anything? Well, we shall see once I check my sale orders. With a little bit of luck, I'll be in profit.

As they say about this game, actions create consequences. From my perspective, it went something like this:

People create trading hub in Jita (however many years ago!)

Groups attack Jita

Other groups defend Jita

someone who made it out alive or heard about it creates gossip 27 jumps away

I fly to Jita

Pick stuff from dead ships

Sell the weapons and minerals at a decent price, seeing as people need it in a hurry

My actions get noticed

Someone waits for me to try again

BANG!!

I wonder what will happen tonight P

Interesting story, I guess.
What do you mean by "subscription offer ship" though?

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

It's always great to hear of new players having fun, even if they got killed in the process. Big smile

But yeah, the headline is confusing (subscription?).

There is an offer where you get a choice of one of four ships if you sub 30 days. The one I selected was a Probe styled Minmitar ship.

Although I'm not sure if it's just for new starters or a once only deal, I cannot seem to find it again [scratches head]

Edit: it was the Vherokior Probe

bout 12m loss not so bad, and nothing that cant be replaced rather quickly. tough be advised that ship is not particularly a pvp ship.

next time try a "Rifter" it will serve you better an cheaper ;)

It was a bit less than 12m but as you said, not a major loss (compared to the potential earnings).

I did consider dragging out my Rifter, but with less than half the cargo capacity, it just was not the ship for the job. I might try the basic probe next time, maybe fit it to zip a bit faster.

This is a refreshing change from the usual lost my ship posts! Glad you're having fun, and I hope you stay around for years to come.

Good luck, fly crazy, and stay away from asteroids! They're noob poison, and don't let those filthy miners (I call em drug dealers) say otherwise!

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

Oh no need to worry there, I intend to do as little mining as humanly possible. Oddly enough, when doing the tutorial missions, I found I really enjoyed the scanning portion. Then I thought to myself "scanning, salvaging and hacking......I think I've found my calling! Big smile"

I tried the mining too, staring at floaty rock things is not what I call an interesting use of my time. Flying into Fleet battles and tearing off fittings and minerals from dead ships, that's more my cup of tea Blink

Ah, for some reason I thought it was the Nefantar Thrasher and was feeling bad for you.

Those are pretty cheap and the base hull they come from is even cheaper.

Also, stay greedy, keep catching suspect flags, go for the big scores, have fun. I love scavenging and, while it may not be the most lucrative profession, you can make a good living at it and it's far more fun, and interactive than shooting red plus signs. Get salvaging to V so you can process T2 hulls; that's where the real money is. Learn how to use combat probes and steal from the mission bears, you'll get some great laughs from all the dumb/racist **** they say in local.

Fly crazy, don't let a loss set you back.

I always enjoy young player stories. They cause me to reminisce about when I started.

Thanks for the tip, I certainly intend to skill my scavenging to lvl V. At the same time, I'm trying to learn my Refining skills so that I can finally learn Scrapmetal Processing.

And don't worry, I have not been scared off from savaging battle zones Cool

Indeed.

I am confused why you'd salvage in one of those special ships. Usually they have good combat bonuses.
Do the salvaging in the hand-me-down junker.

When people complain about things like burn Jita and say it shouldn't be allowed, stories like this are what prove them wrong.
