How do I properly learn the ingame lore?

I am interested in learning more about the backstory in EVE through the several Epic Arcs and Missions they offer that pertain to the deep lore in EVE. Problem is, I have no idea in which order I should be progressing through them.

I've already done the Sisters of EVE Epic Arc, which had an interesting story in of itself, but I have no idea where to go from here. I've heard that some of the Special Agent missions (Forgot the name, but you can only do them once a year) have a bit of interesting lore in them, but I don't know if I should jump on those or try to finish the Epic Arcs first.

There are three kinds of epic arc.

First is the Sisters Epic Arc, which is designed for newer players and doesn't focus on any faction in particular.

Second are the L4 "empire" Epic Arcs which each focus on one of the Big 4; they are not terribly hard, although you will probably want a well-fit battleship to complete them. Some branches may ask you to go or low- or null-sec; you can avoid these or pick up a speedy ship as you see fit.

Third are the L3 "pirate" Epic Arcs, which focus on two of the NPC pirate factions. They are meant to be done in frigates, and are primarily done in the pirate factions' nullsec home regions, making them arguably the hardest arcs to do.

Finally there are the COSMOS arcs. They are a throwback to a far earlier stage in development of EVE, and last I heard some of them had some portions which may not be working correctly. I am unsure if this has been fixed, if they are repeatable, etc. although I am sure some google-fu would turn up some more.
