The MWD + cloak trick

When I read about this in evelopedia for avoiding gate camps it says to uncloak and warp once the one cycle of MWD is ended. But if I were in a Helios with Covert Ops Cloaking device II couldn't I just warp away still cloaked? Couldn't I just turn off the MWD and warp to my next destination without unlcloaking. Thx in advance for any insight.

The MWD-cloak trick is for ships that don't have the ability to warp cloaked. Any ship that can use the covert ops cloak can just warp right away while activating its cloak (remember to click only once!).

Gate cloak isn't the same as ship cloaks. You always have to leave gate cloak before you can engage your ship cloak which usually leaves you vulnerable for lock and scram for about a 1 second if you practice.

Normally you don't need to bother with MWD with cov ops cloak. Most times you just hit warp and then hit cloak.

There is one case where MWD + cov ops is useful: Crashing back to gate. Getting off a full cycle of your MWD gets you a lot closer to a gate than cloaking up and slow boating it back.

MWD+cloak is for anything that cannot fit a covert ops cloak II

anything that can fit a covops cloak can just cloak and warp unless bubbled.

... and covert cloak using jumping into a bubble.

It should be killed off and covert ships should have their cloaked speeds doubled/tripled or more even .. do it like BO's but with even more speed!

Spot on.

I have died due to the accidental double click of the cloak in the past.

you have a covops... use the warp and cloak trick

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Everyone write MWD + Cloak... THIS IS WRONG

If you MWD first and press cloak it will give an instant Lock time enough to pop you.

Its true that Covert should just Warp if not in a bubble. However, the right way to do this is ALIGN, CLOAK, MWD. You have a good 2 sec to turn you MWD on after you cloke, and it will run one cycle cloaked, enough to get away from the spot your at, or burn cloaked back to gate.

Regarding you Covert Ship, the MWD is to get away from a camp for them to uncloak you, before you align and Warp cloaked.

All this depends on the situation.

Last time I checked I was unable to activate any modules due to "interference from the gate cloak". So you have to break that one first by aligning.
THEN you cloak.

You just need to be fast about it.

ALIGN, CLOKE MWD - If you are to slow MWD wont turn on.

I also wrote it wrong, align first, cloake, MWD.. and i just tested, you have about 2 sec to turn your MWD on.

I normal have my cloak on my F1 and MWD on F2, so i press align, F1, F2

cloak+mwd is also good for getting from bubbles. Even for cov-ops.

I appreciate the theory says that you should cloak then mwd but I've never found it made the slightest bit of difference when you jump into a bubble. I've never been locked before cloaking regardless which order I do it in. I have been decloaked and popped but that's usually just bad luck, although I have been caught by some people who really did know how to decloak stuff.

In low-sec it makes bugger all difference anyway.

Oh and I do usually cloak then mwd these days, just never seen the difference in practice is all.

I just roll my face across the keyboard while frantically clicking align, then as soon as the cycle is up I face plant the keyboard and click warp. The hard part is making sure your faceroll doesn't hit a module more than once. That's what the head slam is for.

I've been practising this in an Iteron IV, a Improved Cloaking Device II and a 1mn Microwarpdrive.

I cannot make it work. I'm sure my key presses are correct, however i still have to wait for the speed to go up before it warps. Is this because my ship isnt fast enough? or because some how I am still not pressing the warp quickly enough or am i using the incorrect modules?

You need a 10mn for an iteron, and I'm not sure you can fit one.

Thank you, I thought that must be it.

You are correct I cannot fit a 10mn MWD to an Iteron IV.

I guess I will start that V training!
