Level 5 Ishtar

Some time ago I saw an Ishtar fit for level 5 missions. I've bought the ship, and fitted 'most' of the mods, but would like some further help before I head off on a mission with it. Yes, there are several guides to level 5's in an Ishtar, but some are quite old, others are garbled, etc, etc.

Would someone be so kind as to help point me in the direction of a newer, reliable and legible [lol] guide to doing level 5's in this specific ship?

I know this is not what you are looking for, but I would recommend taking your Ishtar out and running a bunch of 4s, things like AE and such, and getting to know it well. Then maybe some 7/10 complexes and such. No guide is going to give you the experience in flying the ship that you'll need for 5s.

I would agree with previous post.

Run a few lvl 4's first and then pad your wallet. Because I have flown lvl 5's a few times and the margin of error is so slim you will loose a few ships.

I run a Ishtar with a passive shield tank. Works great when your moving fast, pops quick when your moving slow.

Follow missions guide on eve-survival.org.

Fly ishtar is very simple.

Drop a can with a minmatar slave in it. Orbit at 5km. Clear any tackle (be careful of triggers!!), pop web towers. Then carry on shoot whatever you need to as per the mission guide.

Ishtar can only handle kin/therm lvl5s and a few other very easy ones like Sansha on the Horizon.

If you want to jump in to L5's (reccomend u start with afore mentioned L4's though), make sure you only do Serpentis or Gurrista L5's, your tank would not be able to hold out against much else.

I totally agree with the comments re. lvl4's. However, I should clarify. My main is an 04 character and has been running lvl4's for over 6 years, and is quite experienced. However, RL precludes my involvement with a corp', so I run solo which brings with it obvious learning curve issues.

But again, thanks for that good advice, and for taking the time to post. I should have clarified my position first.

You can throw caldari/gallente navy into that mix as well and you WILL get more faction missions than any other type, by quite a margin too.

I'm in a nighthawk doing level5s and most of them are pretty straight forward provided you watch your triggers. They do take quite some time though. Skilling up for the Ishtar atm, can fly it, but without tech II sentries :p

Yes mate, agreed. The Ishtar is set up purely to perma-tank Gurista/Serp' damage. Lows are all Beta Reactor Controls: SR1`'s, mids are Rep/Fleet LSE's with therma/'kin' amps and the rigs are CDFE II and the MSDA II.

Basically, I've got the ship, the mods, etc. But never having flown a lvl5, I don't want to wade in thinking I'm the nuts and die within ten seconds, lol.

Cool. My main's maxed out on a lot of stuff [102m sp's] and can use the NH., However, I've never considered taking one into lvl5's because of how long it takes to complete. Do you use a second character for damage dealing or just the NH?

Thanks Mentat, appreciate it. Loving the Minmatar slave, lol.

Just solo. But Ishtar is faster, no defender missiles . The Tengu is probably a tad faster than the NH as well, which I didn't notice until after I'd trained up for the NH heh.

Don't forget the CN PDU's, i believe they are about 10-12 mil each now? The extra % on shields could add up well
