I don't know how much other people care about this, but you know I pay a subscription to this game when most other games in the world are pay once and you're done, and I want to be able to do WHATEVER I want to with my account and its additional characters. Only being able to skill one character at a time is absolutely ridiculous considering all training is done in real time. Now I have no problem training up my characters, but if I want to be able to skill up all three of those profiles at the same time then I think I should be able to considering that I am paying monthly to have those slots.

If this was a game where I just paid for one account and trained it throughout one career for a couple weeks/months to get to a good high level then that would be one thing....but this is a game that requires MONTHS upon MONTHS to get to a level where your character can actually complete missions of a high level if they so please, and I have to pay for each and every one of those months, so PLEASE make it so that if I want to train more than one of those three profiles at a time then I can do so at my leisure, not have to stop training one character just so I can train up my second.

Thanks

this was done , i would assume, in an effort to reduce the "power" of a single player . eve is all about this for that, balance. you can have 3 characters on one account, but you can only train one at a time. you could train for this, but you will not have that over there. eve was meant to be a very long term game. from the very get go, it was never meant to be a "quick" game that you play and leave. it was intended to take years on the same character to grow and expand. it was also meant to be a game that forces you to join up with other players, forces you to interact in order to accomplish anything major.

and what you are saying is quite typical of new players , they think that they have to train for months before they can do anything "worth while" in the game. this is where you are wrong. if you join up with the right corporation, or read up on how to play eve, how to pilot your ship properly, how to outfit your ship properly, even a new player of a few weeks old can be a major part of a large corporation or alliance. the fact that you think this means you have fallen into the same rut that most new players fall into.

my recommendation is that you find a corporation that fits your needs, you mention missions in here, most players get their best interest from combat and pvp, so i would highly recommend that you find a combat / pvp oriented corporation, join them, and you will see a completely different side of eve.

this is how it has always been, and it will never change

Not to mention if you were training 3 characters at once, the value of said characters would be utterly worthless for trading in the Character Bazaar. Which, as we all know, is the best way to make isk in EVE.

This has been debated many times before on the forum. Whilst it would be good for you it wouldn't be good for CCP. They make a lot of additional revenue from players who want to run multiple skill queues via multiple accounts. If they did as you request they would end up having a lot of people moving one or more of their alt account characters into their main account and unsubbing the alt accounts. People would retain alt accounts for running multiple characters simultaneously but they'd still lose a load of account subs. Not to mention what has already been stated, that everyone would build alts to sell and thus kill the character market.

Whilst you might not care about that and feel that you deserve to get more than you are at the moment it doesn't mean it would be good for CCP or the game as a whole. Loss of revenue means less money for devs which means a slowing of the development process which isn't good for the game.

I for one am perfectly happy with the way things are now in regards to this suggestion. I can understand the sense in it.

Dunno about "most other games". Please name at least 3-4 MMOs that are B2P (except GW/GW2). Also account as well as characters on that account are not yours - you're only renting them from CCP.

If you still want to compare EvE with other MMORPGs - none of other games allow you to "level up" several characters on same account at same time. Same with EvE - only 1 active character per account (the one you're currently playing with), if you want to skill up another character then you can freely do so.

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.

Show me a game where you can play/train multiple characters at the same time on the same account.

There is so much wrong with this.

- you don't need "the best" skills to perform every activity. Sure, high skills will help... and sure, some things will be very hard without higher skills... but if you are smart you can find ways to bypass your limitations (hint: teaming up with others really helps).

- I'm getting the sense that you're thinking in normal MMO terms; powergrind to reach the end content and then min/max. EVE here is one of the few "process" games out there. You're not supposed to reach "end game content" right away. You're not supposed to "be the hero" from the very beginning. You cant know everything in the game. You have to LEARN and EARN those things. Use the tools at your disposal and find ways to make the best of it.

- pro-tip: you don't need every skill at level 5. Getting skills within a certain specialty to level 4 will bring you about 80 to 90% of the effectiveness of someone with those same skills at level 5 in about half to a third of the time.

- if you are good and earning ISK (and you can be) you can use that ISK to buy game time cards (known as PLEX) that other player sell on the in-game market. You can effectively play for free.

As much as I can understand why CCP does this, it does grind my gears a LOT. Hell, I wouldn't mind having my hauling alt train at half speed, but only being able to train 1 character at a time is ridiculous considering you still have to earn ISK for your alts' ships anyways and also have to manage their training queue. CCP has to understand that some people just don't like having their indy character also be their combat character because they like to roleplay or hang our with different corps for industrial and pvp purposes.

Yes, I can manage 2 accounts and do the same thing, but having three character slots is basically only an AWOXer tool now.

You can roleplay and hang out with different characters on the same account already. You just can't increase the skill points of more than one at a time. In all other MMO's I've ever played you can only increase the skill points of one character at a time (as stated previously in this thread by others). The fact that in EvE you can do it whilst not actually playing the game is a bonus.

Not true. I've got multiple characters on all my accounts which are all used to play the game. None are used to AWOX. There are many other uses for low sp alts.

You can get into a battlecruiser in like a week. Upcoming changes to the skill tree will mean that you can get into a battleship and have ok-ish skills for it in maybe two weeks, because you don't necessarily have to completely master the ship classes below it, as far as I know.

Not to mention, you claim that you just buy games once and then have them forever. This is only true for non-MMO's; MMOs like that are the exception, and not the norm (see: Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, mostly).

You pay your subscription to activate your character training queue.
You want 2 queues running? Pay 2 subscription fees.

The concept is mostly identical to any other MMO out there, actually. EVE "levels" you in real time, so it takes longer, and essentially eliminates "the grind" (considering it happens while you're on vacation, etc.).

Whatever.

You can't level your (insert your favorite WoW-esque MMO here)'s characters at the same time from the same account. You can't do it in EVE online either. Same formula, different approach.

Name another MMO where you can NOT play the game other than 1-5min, once a month or so and when you become 'active' again a year later you character is BETTER than when you left it. Eve allows you to "level up" while your sleeping, on vacation, bored of the game for a while, etc. And many said it above me, it's VERY easy to make a specific type of low sp toon without wasting too much time from your "main".

^^ This.

While I am perfectly happy with my one account and exploring the EVE world with it, I am actually quite fond of people who have multiple accounts. For while they are trying to get ahead with their real money (or the PLEX they ISKed that someone else paid with real money), they are also causing CCP to make more money and thus spend more on developement. Which makes my game better. Big smile

Simple solution:
(for your high mission-something):

Train one char into battleship with the needed gun / drones / support / tank skills (shouldnt take you a decade to do so).
Then leave it alone (hint: you don´t need lvl 4 in the spec-skills to easy-mode missions).
I don´t have Evemon at hand right now - but training into a tengu might be even faster.

Train second char to whatever you need / want (let´s say PI).

Train thirds char for pvp and finaly play EvE like it´s meant to be played.

exactly this.

plus, if you really need a 2nd char to be trained, you have several solutions:

1- 2nd account, CCP make offers often for a 2nd account at a very discount price

2- By an already trained character via char-bazar, and transfert it to your account.

3- make a choice, after all, eve is all about choice
