I've currently / been building a recruitment app for the past 3 months and must say its looking much better than goons/test recruitment system.

I'm just curious to the additional proccesses you people may take to recruit new members to your herds.

Though i've not done any recruitment for years i never used to bother with API authentication as a "real" spy would get past that layer anyways, does API's really prevent real spies?

Experiences?

Well certainly NOT see-new-app-click-invitetocorp.
But some individual interviews can be a line of defense against awoxers/spies.
Obviously not 100%, and neither is the full API thing anyways.

I know I like to have full interviews with each applicant and screen them on an interpersonal level much as I can.

Judging by NickyYo's past unusual forum posts, being in his corp would certainly be.........a different experience.

I don't recruit because I think it's unwise to invite person into corp so s/he could shoot me any time and rob corp hangar occasionally . But when I was in actual multi-player corp people there used noob help channels to hook up new members (invite into private channel, answer noob questions, invite into corp after couple days).

Tbf, AWOXers are only stoppable if they've done it before and there are records of such
Spies can always get around any attempt to prevent them as well (Just depends on how much effort your corporation is worth)

Basically you do it to a point you feel happy with and hope for the best... like most things in life actually

mandatory reference requirements generally make it too much effort for spies to get in, not that anyone would want to spy on PL anyways

Personally, I watch local chat. Occasionally an NPC corp player will have a well thought out question. That's a big indicator for me to start looking at this person. They're thinking about it and trying to grow.

I'd rather find people to apply rather than just aimlessly solicit.

In my orgasnisation, we slap them around abit first before we unleash them in various enviorments to be blown out of the skies. All this is so they don't whine when other people abuse them.

API still provides value on backing up player claims prior to app.

We use lengthy ingame & comms chats over a questionnaire to weed out all the red flags. Then you measure the risk/reward and hope you gambled right.

I'm not a recruitment specialist or anything, but proper interviews, API checks, corp history checks for potential mains/alts the player is trying to keep hidden, skill checks (in case the players "main" is a straight to carrier/tengu/whatever trained character or something similarly suspicious) and forum/google searches with his playername go a long way in trying to determine whether an applicant is "honest" or not.
