AUTHORITATIVE GUIDE TO COLLECTOR'S EDITION

After the Collector’s Edition was announced, there were more than dozens of repetitive threads created, asking same questions regarding the Collector’s Edition. I figured it would be nice to compile all the info into one thread.

What is the EVE Online's Second Decade Collector’s Edition?
It is the greatest Collector’s Edition ever conceived in the history of MMO gaming. Unlike the usual combination of a crappy physical action figures coupled with a useless ingame pet or a mount, EVE 10th Anniversary Edition comes with a beautiful model of Minmatar RIfter (USB hub) that you can proudly display in your living room (or suits well at corporate setting), soundtrack of EVE Online performed by one of the top-tier symphonies in the world, "Danger Game" with Commemorative Tin Box, 190-page Hardcover EVE history book, and amazing ingame items as follow:

“The Golden Pod”Permanent account-bound embellishment to your preexisting capsuleer pod that is going to keep you happy even when your pod explodes
“Gnosis Battle Cruiser 5-run BPC”A unique collectible blueprint copy for one of the most beautiful ship designed by Jovian-related Society of Conscious Thoughts, presented to Capsuleers to commemorate EVE's 10th year anniversary
“Tash-Murkon Magnate”A highly collectible reskinned, but still meticulously beautiful Magnate
“Time Capsule” “in-game collectibles celebrating lore, memes, and memorable moments” of EVE Online. I assume it is similar to the 2012 Winter gifts
"Exclusive ingame clothings and accessoriesfor both male and female that will surely make Monocle wearers jealous
“DUST 514 Ingame goods”Unique dropsuits & weapons for discerned collectors of DUST 514 items
"Super Secret Mysterious Code"

In addition, if you PREORDER, you will get the following items, most likely not available after October 2013 (estimated shipping date)

“Nefantar Thrasher”Unique skinned one of a kind thrasher
"Amarr Drop Uplink”Permanent point Generator for DUST 514 (available on May 7th)

Surely, this is one of the most amazing Collectible Editions ever released in the MMO industry.

Distribution – CE could be purchased directly from CCP’s EVE Store or Amazon Via CCP Store, shipping available to North America, Europe, and Australia. For those outside the listed countries, Musterbrands will provide options to ship to freight forwarders. Via Amazon, shipping available to the United States (other countries to follow?)
Pricing -$149.99 (EU149.99) without shipping expenses
Release/Distribution Date –Estimated October 2013
Payment method –Credit Cards, Pay Pal, and payment methods accepted by Amazon

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the “Golden Pods” permanent?
YES. The Golden Pods are account-bound, according to CCP Devs at Fanfest and CCP Spitfire on forum.

Why is CE so expensive?
Often times, price is the best indicator of quality. As noted above, EVE Online’s Collector Edition comes with highly collectible items that will keep you content for the next ten years. $149.99 is close to nothing when it comes to receiving a permanent golden pod, truly unique ingame accessories, and other amazing assortment of Dust collectibles.

After I make the payment, are all the ingame items immediately accessible?
NO. When you order the Collector’s Edition prior to the shipping date (October 2013), you get access to “PREORDER SPECIALS” including EVE’s “Nefantar Thrasher” and Dust 514’s “Amarr Drop Uplink.” You will find the actual CE ingame items including the Golden Pod and etc. when you receive the actual CE package via mail. Until then, no one will have access to the CE ingame items listed above. As noted by CCP Spitfire, Amazon preorders are delayed. They will be delivered soon.

Is Collector’s Edition purchasable using PLEX?
No. Most likely, never.

I got my preorder codes via email, but I can not seem to redeem “Nefantar Thrasher.”
Please follow these instructions (Thanks to Velicitia & Teinyhr)

1) Log out of account management if you already are logged in
2) Go to https://eveonline.com/activate
3) Input the code you got from the confirmation mail, click next
4) Log In
5) You should see a confirmation message of succesfull code activation
6) Log in to the game
7) You should now see you have items in the item redeeming system
8) Profit!! or alternatively
9) Tuck it away somewhere in a dark corner of your hangar and spin it occasionally to dust it off

Feel free to ask us any questions. If you make your purchase, do not forget to drop a line here, boasting about being part of the most exquisite club in the world.

Did you just say free CE Box?
Yes! On May 5th, between 0:00 and 17:00 GMT, send an EVE Mail to character "CCP EVEis10" with yur best guess at what the highest PCU for the day will be. Winner will be presented with nice goodies INCLUDING CE Box for the lucky.

I was saying to my partner as we went in to the keynote last night that CCP are giving us a Gnosis as a birthday present, so I wonder how long it will be until they re-use the Gnosis for some other offer. Then there it was: 5 run Gnosis BPC in the Second Decade Collectors Edition.

Anyone running a book on how soon CCP will be re-using the Tash-Murkon Magnate, collectors edition Thrasher, new clothes and DUST 514 equipment for another offer?

Collecting has been my life-long profession in EVE Online and the recent launching of the EVE Online 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition provides "treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross."

Having purchased most of the Collector's Editions for major MMOs out there (yes, including $1,000 WoW original), I can say this with 150% confidence that EVE Online's Collector's Edition provides players with the most amazing ingame items ever:

A permanent Golden Pod?
Race specific costumes?
Amazing Dust items?
Highly collectible 10th anniversary ship BPC?
Unique skinned Magnate?
Unique Thrasher (pre-order special)?

This is a dream come true for all the collectors out there.

I just preordered my Collector's Edition.

Have you? This is a cause worth boasting about. Show your support!

How many pre-orders are available? Is this limited, or can EVERYONE active have one?

At the moment, CCP hasn't specified on the number of the copies issued, but it would be nice if CCP could provide answer.

I understand that WoW is not EVE, but when Blizzard issued the original Collector's Edition, there were approximately 10,000 in circulation.

Of course, that doesn't mean it has been used fro another offer — it means it has been used for an offer. “Another” comes after the first one. Blink

There are a few of us collectors that have been adamant about CCP correctly identifying and adhering to "limited being limited" and "collectible being collectible."

Prior to the Ishukone debacle, there has a complete lack of communication between the marketing department and the "game department" that led to marketing department flooding the market with items that were supposed to be limited.

Now that the whole Ishukone debacle has been fixed, CCP has been somewhat clear as to the nature of these items. For example, you will note that the new unique frigates from 2012 Winter presents specifically state that "there are no guarantees that these will be "limited."

I believe CCP will adhere to their wordings and will keep these items "limited."

As much as I love Eve, £125 is a bit steep. Subbing the game is enough for me.

It's not *the* most amzing LE ever, but it *is* quite shiny. Works for me - and I'm enjoying looking at my shiny new 'used' Thrasher.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

It's certainly not cheap. I have to give up weeks' worth of my McDonald's binge, but I believe it is a sacrifice well justified.

I will probably get it when my financial situation allows in the coming months.

Seeing as there is no counter on when they will run out on the store currently, looks like they're gouging interest at this point so they'll probably make enough for the preorders and maybe a thousand, two thousand units on top of those. Maybe less depending on how accurately the one statement I've seen from CCP, it being "very limited", holds true.

Unlike many people I'm most interested in the physical stuff more than the digital ones - with one exception, the "mythical multi-use code" for super secret in-game swag in the coming 10 years - but yeah what I'm most pumped about is the 190 page hardcover and the symphony soundtrack.

Edit: And to people that say it's expensive - it's fairly competetively priced for a CE of such caliber. The Diablo 3 CE for example is about the same on it's features and is about the same price.

They are. “Limited” is not used and anything can be a “collectible”.

Quote:

They will adhere to the wording and keep this items “special” — i.e. not infinitely reproducible through in-game means.
