Nah, they work fine for Firefly but any kind of EVE show would just feel strange with them, especially together.

I'm also wondering if they'll try to remove known accents, it'd be weird to hear an American (or any other) accent in a show that's set 20,000 years in the future.. though it hasn't really been an issue for any other TV show.

Not to mention, many of them are on other shows now so would not be available.

Castle, Suits, Suburgatory

Those can all be cancelled. As much as I like Castle, EVE is more important.

Just don't put it on Fox or they will cancel it prematurely. Lol

canceling a show thats basically Star Wars meets Warhammer 40k, but with 10 times as many explosions, and nonstop political intrigue and backstabby relations?

a proper eve show could draw from the star trek/wars/gate, and even the 40k crowd, and anything good enough to maintain an audience from all of those groups would be a terrifying threat indeed. Though personally i'd prefer CGI people instead of real ones, since it would look weird associating actors faces with EVE, but hey as long as its done well, maybe we can get EVE's popularity widespread enough that we can start holding international conventions as big and often as trekkies or troopers.

Sharon your wrong there it will be based on what the players have done not what the story line of eve is. You can submit your stories on the part of the eve website. I really hope it is all animated like the trailers I think live action might ruin it or make it feel not real in a weird kinda way.

I dunno how they are going to film a whole show in a space station. The door wont even open.

More then likely based off the books, and fan fiction stories, not our day to day "BS" we go through. Although I'm sure some large battles might actually get featured with possible shout outs the some of the well know FC's

The building and subsequent destruction of the first Titan for example...not sure it would make a good story for a show but it's something.

I love the eve online trailers. I love the visuals anyway, the dialogue and voice acting is usually very cheesy.

Eve certainly has a lot going for it when it comes to entering the movie/tv show realm. Its got tons of the concepting and visual development work already done, its got lore and conflict, and its dark and gritty. Just how I like my sci-fi. But its also very grand and epic, which is cool, but also a challenging problem.

With Firefly they were on backwater planets a lot so they could use real world locations with little or no modification. Their ship was a scrapheap so it lent itself well to practical sets. With Battlestar most of the show took place on the Galactica, which was also intentionally rather primitive looking and easier to do sets for. I could see an EVE show working if it did something similar - taking place mostly on a junky Minmatar ship and visiting backwater locales.

Farscape's Moira wasn't junky looking, but again they at least only had a single ship environment to build for use as their main set. Would an EVE show feel like EVE if it focused on one set of characters and one ship? I think it would be fine that way. But it seems like it can be very easy for them to bite off more than they can chew with translating EVE into a show. I can see it quickly going into cheesy 'original sci-fi channel movie' territory, with horridly done GCI backdrops and effects. Which would be a shame. If they can at least get it up to the level of Farscape/Firefly/BSG though, then it could be quite awesome indeed.

I think it would be cool to at least get a couple dozen 4-5 minute shorts made for all the chronicles, aswell as some miniseries for the biggest or most interesting player wars.

but as far as bringing eve to other media, wouldnt it be cool if they had a DS9/babylon 5 style long-term series that they used to further the lore and story of the empire/pirate factions and their wars? Tibus Heth's descent into madness, Jamyl Sarum's descent into madness, the Gallente Federation's descent into complete clusterfuck of FUBAR, and the entire time the Minmatar are like "what are we, Australia? why dont we have any action goin on in this war?"

but if they did all 3 things, miniseries for player wars/events, making shorts out of all the chronicles, AND made a longterm space opera scifi actionfest to actively further the lore and shape the game, would be awesome (and i know a few of my friends, who have never played eve, but looking at things like all the EVE/DUST trailers, say they would totally prefer a show for that than Defiance)

You are both wrong.

While events like the Battle for Caldari Prime and the lore pieces will likely form the backdrop, the pitch is "Based on a true story that happened 20000 years in the future."

The idea is that it is (at least loosely) based off the stories we the players submit. Our True Stories just like the comic.

The geopolitical intrigues could be interesting though. You could pitch that as "Game of Thrones in space"

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.
