A Fanfest 2013 viewer's feedback

Honestly, I was very excited going into Fanfest 2013, but after it all, I'm sorry to say I'm left a lot underwhelmed.

Firstly, it was entirely too much about Dust. I get that Dust is your new baby, but if I had known that 70% of everything shown was going to be "DUST DUST DUST," I certainly wouldn't have bothered with the stream.

What did we see for Eve? A few navy ships that used existing ships with new textures? A single new ship redesign? Seriously? I'll give you that the stargate effects and system scanner are cool features. Unfortunately, they don't really affect us wormhole players.

Sorry if this is a rant; I wanted to share feedback. And Fanfest 2013 left me feeling wanting, you know, more. It largely feels like a point release.

I've already posted a thread ranting about the samething.

You're only going to get a handful of people who'll agree with you because fanboysim is rampant I suppose on the forums.

Seriously though. This "Expansion" is garbage.

I agree completely except that the expansion will be garbage. I look forward to it but there was tiny mention of anything to do with it. The CSM results got 30 seconds and then gone. The new modules only mentioned once during the week etc.

Dust can have a seat at the table too but ffs it hasn't even been released yet. Remember what is important.

This was really what did it for me. Eve got WAY shafted on face time this Fanfest, which is totally unfortunate. It could have been so much more. We saw lots of improvements and things coming to Dust, and it would have been nice for CCP to recognize that Eve was there, too.

My summery:

- bad HD-Stream (bad quality, only one real channel, bad organised schedule, tech issues, lags, bad communication with the stream etc.)
- only DUST and Marketing stuff on the eve and ccp keynotes
- dust and eve connections are a lie
- eve expansions features somekind of good but mostly fixes and improvements, no new stuff. There are still tons of fixes needed. btw where is Walking on Stations?!

I think they're just keeping their hand close to their chest and seeing how well the Dust/Eve link works out, whether or not there are enough Dust Mercs to make it a viable one and whether or not Capsuleers utilize the bonuses they provide.

Once that occurs, they can set in motion the pathway for the Winter expansion's "theme" (something that everyone was flipping out about not seeing any content of).

Suffice to say, you don't want to work on something when you could potentially make something better when you have more information. It's the difference between the winter expansion having all of these awesome features for low-sec (something that's been rather overlooked) which include these gorgeous bonuses from Dust that make it all the more appealing and an expansion that is entirely Eve-related because the Dust thing didn't work out.

But I can guarantee that with more revenue and profit comes more Black Shirts (CCP Uniform). With more Black Shirts comes more content, and considering how ambitious they are at the moment they're going to need a -lot- of manpower.

They release dust in 17 days ... what did you expect? that they ignore it?

the only thing that disappointed me is Hilmar trolling about the door, that door should have been opened ages ago if it hadn't been for the anti-incarna whingers
This is my signature. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.  Without me, my signature is useless. Without my signature, I am useless

You were terrible in fantastic four.

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie

There's a large spectrum from ignoring it and devoting the large majority of the Fanfest to it. The point I was making was that Eve should have been more prevalent in the show lest you forget that without Eve, Dust would never have happened.

The show felt like "oh hey look all this cool Dust stuff. Dust is awesome. There's all these things Dust can do.....oh yeah, and we still make Eve, too." This point is especially so considering that most of the keynotes' times were spent talking about Dust. If the goal was to **** Capsuleers off so we'd go kill more of them in orbital strikes, then they were successful.

It was the most boring fanfest in eve history. Half of it was about... dust (which is not even compatibile with pc), and another half about history of eve. Great, everyone who can read or played from some time already knew this, so whats the point of making fanfest to tell it again?.

Props for Hilmar presentation with old trailers from last year. CCP have ideas related to eve for next 10 years? This could be true.. 10 years ago. Thats way they will be only fixing things now, forget about new content. Collectors edition idea? its a joke from people who went to iceland.

Entire fanfest could be shrinked to one (1) hour presentation.

Extremely disappointed in FanFest, baring the orchestra of course. Day 1 was all about Dust, and sure it was nice stuff as I play Dust as well on my PS3..but damn, day was about Eve? Really? The keynote was "hey, we're not doing anything new at all, just some polish and calling it an expansion, you like?" No CCP, I do not like.

"But but, new navy ships!" No CCP, old ships with new skins do not new ships make.
"But but, what about the system scanner, jump affects, v3 stuff and radial menu?" Neat, should have done all of that a while ago really, and btw, pure polish doesn't make an "expansion" as the term usually means "New things added to old things."
"But, what about.." Stop it CCP, just stop it. We get it, Dust 514 has become the new baby and the old pre-teen is being sent off to boarding school. Just admit it.

<--Bitter old vet that still loves the game for what it was.

Because when I think "EVE Online" I think "Giant spaceship battles" not "walking around a poorly rendered sci-fi room at 2 miles an hour".

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!
