As a 5.5 year Eve player, I also think this is an excellent candidate for the official Eve intro video that is played for new players. Maybe add into the narration, the names of the four empires while they are being shown.

I entiretly agree, which other tralier would be more fitting that this? It tells orgins of New Eden in nutshell. And have Terran ships:D (BTW they look like industrialized tengus, and I'm quite sure I've seen jita monument behind that angry caldari commander).

It's a hard choice. The new trailer says much about the story, but the current one says so much about being a capsuleer and the world we live in. They are both great.

i actually love the current intro. it does a good job at presenting the idea of a future where trough technology individuals can be gods.

YES YES YES YES YES I wanted the original video back but OMG this is soo much better. CCP make it happen please...new intro video...OOOHHH and release it with Odyessy :) :) :)

Why the hell would you want a trailer that is mostly gameplay footage of another, different game as the intro for EVE?

A decently made cinematic that actually gives people an idea about either the background of the EVE universe or what it is that a Capsuleer does is vastly more appropriate.

It's not even a very good trailer. EVE has a plethora of other, better trailers that are well made, good looking and about spaceships.

EDIT: Had to add some specificity via a quote there.

Eh it doesn't TALK about the races, but it does a good job visually conveying them in a short span of time. Add to that the racial intro screens at character creation and it covers it nicely. I think in terms of pacing this way is better. I mean I wouldn't object to more info, but this new intro flows NICELY.

Imo I don't think they go far enough to explain the 4 races, Yes the racial intro screen has information but not enough, How else would you know who reinvented space flight, or how did the nations acquire the technology to be demigods, why the caldari split apart from the Gallente, and why they hate eachother? You could say go to the evelopedia page but even that needs updating. I'd prefer a 6-10 minute intro, with even more information at the character creation screen.

The pacing was decent, I can see they were trying to time it with the music, which might explain why it's rather short (even though some of the scenes are questionable, like the Nyx part where it's surrounded with vessels and it suddenly jumps to the next scene when it gets hit by the Ion Cannon. and the Nyx is all -alone- in space with a Slicer flying by)

But yes at it's current pace it's pretty great. But in that pace personally it wouldn't be worthy of a intro. The intro should be as the game is, slow and informative, but at the same time pulling you in.

Wouldn't you know it, I stopped watching the feed about a minute before it was aired.

Luckily the Twitch feed has been running all day, and I went back to see it (starts at 9:17:45).

Great trailer Big smile

I have no doubt they will beef it up for an intro.

So I'm assuming this is the new trailer everyone's talking about.

This is the best damn trailer I have ever seen from CCP and I've watched them all. I could hardly contain myself when watching this, no joke. It would definitely do a lot to get newbies excited about the game when they start the client for the first time.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I think the best part of the trailer is the peek at what the humans on earth were doing. Nice to know we didn't all blow the **** out of each other.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

Well, for one, the trailer will lead to endless noobs asking why don't they get a first person view of their cokpit/command bridge.Cool

The little part of being a meatbag submerged in goo inside an armored survival/control capsule completely went away to a land where Caldari ships shoot lasers at planets, female characters wear stockings, all bare arms show sleeve tattoos and people, rather than faceless ships, does stuff.

What they sell through marketing and the actual game are sort of detached. Straight

Not so much DUST footage for the EVE intro, otherwise, epic.

Oh, and Twitch sucks. Freezes up every 30 seconds- had to watch the trailer in pieces.

BTW, did the planet shoot a Nyx? I must know more.
