Bring one the mini series but keep in in chronological order, so it does not break the life of EvE Online and now Dust514.

and yes this is not  my main.

Not sure that "mini-series" is the right term. The goals for comparison were game of thrones, breaking bad and boardwalk empire. Nothing mini about those shows. This is a full blown TV series.

Wut.

He probably thinks CCP should never do anything except ship balancing, don't mind him.

I'm excited to see what comes of this.

He who controls the veld, controls the universe.

I'm confused as to how official this actually is. From what was being said on stage it seems they're still working on the pitch and haven't ironed out anything with any networks yet.
Which means there's still a very long way to go until a pilot is greenlit.
There are thusands of shows pitched to networkks every year, but most of the time nothing comes of it.

Something that just popped into my mind:
A low-budget webseries, produced in-house (CCP has the best trailer crew in the world anyway, just blackmail them into making a series), that acts as a sort of prequel to when the game started and the first capsuleers were made. As someone suggested in some other thread talking about a TV series, the ending to this series could be the first capsuleer getting into a pod.

Then pitch that to networks, tell them you'll make it bigger, better and whatever, but more importantly, the whole "true story 20k years from now" thing and then the actual TV series itself would be about "real EVE". I think that'd be pretty sweet.

He who controls the veld, controls the universe.

Machinima and several other outlets have been doing some interesting things on that regard.

I think I would rather see it up there Game of Thrones but yes that could be very cool.

In general I think there has been a wonderful reversal, the books and early lore refused to acknowledge specific players and groups but instead focused on the backstory only. With this one single version of the universe (excluding Serenity for the purposes of this discussion) that was a horrible waste of the opportunity for the players to be part of the canon history.

Very glad that CCP is looking at what an asset the players are at this point.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

For a moment I had hope that they will do it as HBO series, this universe have enormous potential, especially if series would be based on real stories. I fear though that it will become something terrible like Space Marine, only warhammer official movie, and done so badly that fan made ones seems better, especially Lord Inquisitor.

I seriously hope that won't happen.

On another note, the CG for the series will be somewhat cheaper since they can just re-use the assets from EVE and Dust, I mean the quality standard for the CCP Art Department is very high.

Also remember ccp is partnered with Sony at this point, they are in movies and tv. Big time.

Sounds like they would be taking a cue from Defiance?

What made B5 the best scifi series ever?

That it was all written, from the beginning to the end, before they started to film. Nearly every episode from the start to the end developed or contributed towards an end known to the writers, and everything made sense in retrospect. Everything tied back to earlier and future events.

In contrast, those scifi series that have no plot, no great narrative, no end in sight, end up being just space soap opera, only based on the characters dropped in an endless variety of new situations. Those tend to become boring as hell to watch.

Make Eve online - the series - more like B5, and less like a space soap opera.

Please?

So what are you doing to make it happen? Do you have a team in place to start the storyboarding? Machinima signed on? How many people have you recruited to work on your project?

Cuz, I assume you're not suggesting that resources be drawn AWAY from EveO dev into a cartoon or live-action "mini-series" by CCP Games....
