My EVE

I always wanted to do production in eve, but every time my calculations came to teh same result:
“I can better sell that ore, buy the thing via buy-order from the market and sell it with profit“.

Now I found a solution for this problem:

Make a character who has to built or find everything he/she needs for the ships:
Ignore the Market, ignore the Isk/Hour ratio and just have fun producing, mining and also pving:
Because the set target is to make a character, who can pvp in own built ships.

Rules I set for myself:
- Don't buy anything from the market: only exception: (original) blueprints
- Selling not used stuff is allowed to keep enough money for new blueprints
- No Mission running/salvaging (since you find almost everything there, it would ruin the fun)

Here’s how the first week went:

I decided to base out of Actee (Essence). It's a high-sec island in the gallente FW zone with empty production slots, enough belts(even ice) and a quiet low-sec entry gate.
With this as a base I can cover almost all materials needed for my production. (only Megacyte and Morphite missing)

Equipped with a starting Budget of 10million, an unfitted Venture and a few basic blueprints(mining laser BP , armor repper BP, salvager BP ) the journey started:

Of course the direct way to Actee, through “old man star”, was camped by pirates.
I had to take a longer way to avoid to loose my stuff on the first day.

Safe in Actee I equipped 2 civilian miner on my venture, headed out to mine materials and had to realize an un-tanked and un-gunned ship has to flee from highsec rats.
The first hours where really pain in the ass: arrive at belt mine 2-3 cycles, flee until your shields are restored and repeat it .
So a tank was needed and I had to realize that even a t1 armor rep needs null-sec ore →
I had to get some shield tank blueprints which didn’t need megacyte (and of course shield tank makes more sense on a venture).
To get these “rare” 0.0 loot,s without going there, I started to take a risk and looted wrecks, other miners had killed, and I finally managed to get a hand on 8 Megacyte and was able to build a salvager :-)

Now its the end of the first week and i'm enyoing my new life:

I have a venture which is able to fight off npc-rats and mine even in low-sec. -
The NPC fights (vs faction spawns) almost feel like pvp (I do pvp on other accounts so I know how it feels^^)
I'm finally able to produce stuff and I don’t think that I’m wasting time and money

At the moment I’m Planning a trip into 0.0 to cover my rare ore needs so that I can begin the production for my combat vessels. Im happy about any advice i can get and i hope my journey will encourage more people to try the same

week 2:

Its done: the first combat vessel was built : a Tristan,
So I left Actee and went on a low-sec roam trough the Factional Warfare zone and tried find some lone frigs I could fight.
The first target, an Incursus, was in a medium FW-plex in Hallanen (Blackrise).
I switched the safety off and activated the gate:He was still was there when I landed , not aligned anything...
aaaaand gone.... he cloaked.
So I burned towards his direction and uncloaked him: my point activated and it was circling and he warps...stabbed and cloaking FW-farmers (damn Caldari)...

On to the next system: a condor in a medium plex, he agressd, i agressed back and his first volley melts half of my tank.
So I align out, overheat my mwd and escape leaving my drones behind(they were scratching his shields a tiny bit), of course he was pissed a bit with me escaping.

Conclusion of this little roam: a t1 built frig doesn’t stand a chance vs normal fitted ships of the same size. Its time to built a bigger one;-) but for that I have to go into 0.0 and get the required materials.

I gathered enough materials for a second venture,(if the first one dies I wont have to mine in a noob ship).
The destination in 0.0 was F7C-H0 (cloud ring), which seemed relatively quiet for a 0.0 entry. And I had system with a station in low-sec 2 jumps away.

but what I didn’t know:
most of the 0.0 systems don’t have the 0.0 ores I was searching for ... so I left the 0.0 space without any ore and 30 jumps for 1 load of ore isn’t profitable. So I traveled home again and ran into a gate camp and my venture was history.

The new plan for solving my Ore problems now: Wormholes. Lets built a scanning ship.

Actually that is a great idea. This would make an excellent blog.

Your writing skills seem fairly good to me.
