Funny thing is. I can't view the first link here in the UK because its part of the BBC international service. Which isn't covered by the license fee apparently. Which is STUPID.

Eve is a dark strategy game underpinned by libertarian philosophy, which helps explain why it attracts government operatives and hedge fund managers as much as space geeks. “You’ve got this dystopian, dark world in which people use spaceships to engage in piracy and world domination,” says Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CCP’s red-haired, red-bearded chief executive officer. “There’s certainly something that speaks to the national psyche. Have you looked outside?”

This was the best part for me.

I think I will never be able to leave EVE. Specially not now that I have almost 150 million sps.

They just keep accumulating, it´s fantastic. Also the forums here offer me endless fun and readings. Some people here I actually dislike or like with a passion and I know it works both ways. A weird strange feeling of "family", that I have been part, in a very, very small way since 2005.

For me, belonging to this community is reward enough. Despite the flaming, trolling and actual hatred some people display towards others, specially newbies, I find this small virtual world a wonderful breeding ground of ideas and an almost blessed cornucopia of social information. I even managed to grow a very thick set of skin here.

Even with the one-sided grievances I have had personally with EVE and CCP, they will keep earning my money for a while. I simply cannot afford not to be here. The only little place I can call home in the net after 3 countries, 4 close to my heart tragic deaths and situations in life where I had to escape here just to keep a small bit of sanity and make sense of the chaos that surrounded me (Imgur comes second) Lol

Grow strong EVE! I always try to bring people over. Though so far my retention rate is close to 0 (this game is not really for everyone) I keep trying, I kinda miss the 5$ EVE offers on STEAM for new accounts , u guys should bring them back!

TLDR: I´m a brainwashed fanboi cultist and I like it.

I have played online multiplayer RTS for years seeking the kind of polish this game has.
Now that I have eve, I can be a part of a polished RTS like
environment without being part of the brutally competitve gameplay.

All games are second to Eve online. Gold is attainable to me only on the understanding Eve is made of unobtanium reinforced Platinum.

Victory is defined by the individual, I like sitting anonymously turning over my money turning coin in endless circles through alts. Kinda curious to see what the Eve's economy looks like to see how much of it is my ***** Twisted

I can attest to this too. And admitting it is the first step. Smile

Eve is like a Dominatrix... she punishes you but you keep going back for more.

Though that said, the graphs showed at the keynote for Retribution showed a big burst of new and old players. So who knows.
