local

Reposting topic, because previosly I posted it in wrong section

Yesterday CCP Soundwave mentioned at fanfest that local needs to be changed somehow, because now it works more than a basic intel tool than just chatbox as it supposed to be. Local makes stealth moving through nullsec nearly impossible and players are being reported on various intel channels... don't have to talk about further consequences.

I came up with an idea how to solve "local" problem. Here it is:
- make local work everywhere in Eve just like in wh space
- in space every ship would have installed proximity scanner, which detects only warping through it's range and jumping in objects. It would work similar to dscan already known in game, giving intel automatically every 1 second within several AU sphere around the ship, with no specified data about incoming vessels. Basically, it would work just like motion scanner from alien vs predator game series.

Feel free to comment.

If local will be removed, 0.0 sec will be dead.

How do you know? How can you predict that? Look at wormholes for example. those are a haven for people that wish to escape the blue donut, but don't want to deal with the restrictions of Highsec, it to doesn't have local and it hard enough to find a wh that not occupied.

However, no one can predict if null sec will die, nor can they predict that it will live on, the only way to find out what will happen is enact a system of some kind, be it removing local from all null sec, to starting a clone server so people can test local changes and give feed back.

Ever see someone hot drop an (supposedly) empty system?

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Well, CCP is certainly going to bring nullsec to life (deducing from latest fanfest 2013 news and today's devblogs), so why not to consider local change as next step after succeeding with that?

if it empties out then the miners in hi-sec will have no reason to not go there.

i think there will be a mass exodus of null bears, but anyone determined enough to stay there and fight for their territory will remain. Perhaps that way we wont have hundreds of claimed yet empty systems. maybe alliances will have to condense their territory and actively patrol and defend it and each other.

That would be the ideal outcome.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

here's my idea on the local subject

local is basicly a intel tool making roaming a gigantic pain you iva go home 2 hours later with little to show for it or your blobbed

so here my idea make local in null sec a i-hub upgrade

most corps and or alliances will have this upgrade in there main systems (ratting / market ect.)

however due to the sov bill increase with this upgrade some areas of null sec will become local-less leading to areas where gangs can roam and get random encounters

at the same time some areas of null sec may become safer for the random miner/ratter if they are running a belt/anom thats out of d-scan range of the gates some if not most gangs without local to inform them some 1 is in system may just fly right on through without even noticing them

In the same time CCP Soundwave stated that they will not remove local now... nor near soon(tm)

probably the local will only be removed in the moment that no one have use to it... as the D-scanner can show everyone around in the system and the Stargates anounces every acess to the system.

He also said he doesn't like an idea of making local in null same as in wh because that would just make wh space less unique and they are unique and great success of devs.

And yeah, your idea of "fixing" local is original and never seen before Roll
