A quick question about decloaking ship rules

Is it allowed to put probes and cans around gates in order to decloak ships?

I read some posts about it but they mentioned that things have changed from which caused that to be against the rules, main reason being the upgrade of servers so little lag issues. Just wanting to stay up to date.

Thank you for quick response

Best regards Eyana

Salting a gate is still ok as far as I know. But abandoning 6 freighters worth of drones on a large gate and anchoring 10 large bubbles and another 30 small bubbles is apparently frowned upon.

Of course, in the end it all matters whether the person who gets caught by you has enough posterior pain and decides to petiton it and you get a GM who is less than friendly who investigates it.

PS - Use corpses. Theyre better, dont have brackets, and most of the universe for some reason dont have biomass added to overview. Also no jettison timer between corpse drops like you get with cans Big smile

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

OK, thank you for the quick reply and information. Big smile

Seems I'm gonna have to start collecting more corpses... Twisted

it is always good to find that people seeks limits where something turns to exploit

Well to be honest I find cloak to be an exploit since the only way to find it is to be at miserable 2.5km from it...

As long as you are not doing it with the intent to create lag, then you are ok.

CCP has stated somewhere that doing this with the intention to create lag will result in a ban. Doing this with the intent to just decloak is fine. CCP will determine your intentions. I'm not sure if this statement that they made probably several years ago is still valid or not. I would file a petition to get a response from CCP rather than posting here.

It is valid... they imposed a limit on the gates now, so that only so many can be outside of the gate... and thus its harder to prove the intentions of lag over decloak..

Back in the day you used to jump into systems and you couldnt tell if you were in a bubble or just surrounded by cans, they would go out with like 2k ammo and jettison it 1 piece at a time... and after about 4 hours it would be redic

We do this often, in many different forms.

It is not an exploit but CCP will / may intervene if the number of objects you use either is likely to cause lag or (in their opinion) is intended to cause lag. CCP’s responses on this issue are, however, highly inconsistent and will vary with the GM on-duty at the time.

If someone complains and CCP decides to take action, here’s what usually occurs:
- A CCP GM suddenly appears in system;
- Your lovingly deployed objects (be they cans, drones, corpses or whatever) suddenly and mysteriously disappear;
- The CCP GM disappears from your system.

I have been on several such camps now, and none of us received any sort of warning from CCP … or even any clear advice on what constitutes ‘too many’ objects in this scenario.

All the same not everyone complains and this sort of setup can be a lot of fun … and occasionally manages to let us catch an unsuspecting cloaky-nulli T3 at a gate or a jump-bridge.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.
