Nah, I don't, really.

Supposedly it had something to do with him implementing some really dubious and insecure code in order to catch users of Red Guard.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Sreegs prolly took the office coffee pot. That he no doubt paid for!

Well that would be very serious, people need their coffee.

Especially software developers. Messing with the Altar of Holy Coffee is a capital offense.

Whenever you hear someone has left to "pursue other opportunities" in the UK it means they got escorted off the premises with all their stuff.

Maybe Iceland is different but I suspect not.

People doing things they shouldn't is to be expected so hearing that CCP caught and dealt with someone is good news for internal accountability. Far from "CCP Cheats!"

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Thank you. I really needed to be reminded of that in the middle of my lunch break.

So the "big news" is that one dev was using the backend to cheat, and he got caught and fired.

I, for one, am up in arms.

Fair enough if that's the case but the phrase they used generally means you got the bullet.

In the UK the phrase has a sub-meaning of "we can't quite call the police in and prosecute but its close so he's out now".

Its probably just a language thing.

My only real reaction is disgust that someone would value their internet spaceships over their job.

Over here it either means "Malefactor chased out as cheaper than prosecuting" or "Top tallent leaving this sinking ship like a scrambling rat."

Are you serious? Look around you, many people in this game value their internet spaceships over everything....

I've looked at this and can say with about 90% certainty that I know exactly who this is, what happened and even why.

I won't say since it wouldn't be fair if I am wrong. Perhaps not even fair if I am right.

What I will say is that it appears that an individual that was employed by CCP let his passion for the game override his good sense. CCP Internal Affairs detected it. CCP did the right thing and let him go from company employ.

Sad all around but hardly a reason to freak out at CCP. In fact I have to say they did a good job here as I understand the facts and rumors presented.

Only real cause for criticism might be why wasn't Darius III removed from CSM and banned sooner?

PS - From the timing it is pretty clear this wasn't Screegs, fairly likely it was Screegs that caught the guy.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

Am I the only one that wouldn't really mind if they "cheated"? They made the game, they deserve to enjoy its perks. They don't have enough time to play as seriously as some people do if they're constantly sorting out bugs, developing new features, managing petitions etc. Cut them some slack?
