Hi all,

Last night I was offered a Talos by a fellow corp member, which I accepted.

I plan to fit the Talos with the following modules.

High: 6x large hyrbid guns (not sure which yet)
2x tractor beam

Med: 1x 100mn AB
3x cap recharger 2

Lows: 1x vestment armour repairer
1x damage control 2
3x adaptive hardeners

Is this planned fit ok for missions in general?

Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm assuming you're choosing to use this ship for reasons other than it being a good missioning boat. Of all the Tr3's the Talos is probably the best set for missions given it has drone bay to ward of tackle frigates and a tracking bonus that should help you hit cruisers and up at range.

The 100MN AB is a reasonable idea and I'm guessing you're planning on kiting in it. Therefore rails would make sense. Personally I'd maybe just go for all guns and come back in an dedicated salvage vessel - it'd be quicker.

I can fit 8x350 T2 rails with a 3% PG implant. Given it's relatively good on cap and you won't be running the whole lot all the time you can probably get away with it not being 100% cap stable - i.e don't waste rig space with CCCs.

Personally I would try to see if I could get a mag stab on there somehow in place of one of the hardeners. Hybrid rigs will add PG to the guns so not good. Maybe by putting an explosive rig on might be ok, dunno. If you're low on tank then clearly you can throw on active tanking rigs.

AM is 468 @ 27+25, Uranium is 390 @ 41 +25 - seems like a good one. Otherwise Spike at 87kms (max target range) is 312 dps. That's all with a mag stab. Navy ammo would clearly give you more damage at a price.

Hi all,

Thanks for the input, it's greatly appreciated.

The plan is to make 2 Talos fits.

One for missions and another as a All in one Exploration boat.

I know that there are much better ships for All in one Exploration, but I plan on doing DED complexes and a Heron or Imicus isn't suitable.

I do have myrmiddon fits for All in one Exploration, so all I want to do is see how well the Talos works in Exploration.

Combat is everywhere in EVE, and having only 5 drones out is about a much good as a sword against a sniper.

dude....it's a GUNBOAT.

It's entire purpose is it's GUNS

How many gun slots does it have? That's right, ALL OF THEM.

Why anyone would consider in a hundred years doing the travesty of flying a gunboat without maxed gun slots....

...well I just don't know.

Don't do it. There are ships to suit your two stated purposes, and this is definitely not one of them. If you must defile the Talos by slogging it through the most boring content in eve (missions), at least fill out the guns and put some magstabs on the thing.

Let another ship do the tractoring, Talos is clearly made with the express purpose of face melting. Let it fulfill it's purpose!

FWIW, Mega pulse Oracle does a fine job with PVE content.

Fill the rest of the slots with what you like, cap or more resists, or whatever.

Pair this with an Onerios and you can drop the armor rep and tracking computer for more utility.

As a matter of fact a talos is my personal favourite ship for running L3 missions... just not fit anything like that...

A T2 blaster talos is one of the fastest ships for running L3 missions in, it's fast and can often one shot the cruisers within 30km with a refire rate that lets you tear through the sites with ease. The fit I use is shield tanked with 2x LSE's, MWD and 1 EM ward, Neutrons in the highs and in the lows magstabs and tracking enhancers. I would say that the tank on this set up is absolutely minimal and running each site is like a perma "time attack" mode, which for me is more fun than occasionally hitting F1 in a drake

talos is brilliant at pve if you know what you're doing. DPS is your tank as large blasters melt a lot of things very quickly unless you're fighting something like angels and has the drone bay to boot.

However rails is a bit weird on a talos, you should just shield fit it with a couple of tracking enhancers and shoot null.
