You should go check out Kugu. Those are not new players, and what a foul mouthed, wretched, forum. Vulgarity seems to be the preferred language, followed by sarcasm, hate, and out of context posting.

What one culture considers acceptable another finds offensive. There will be no please all the people who play. A word filder would be nice while still allowing it to be optional. Yes, there are ways around it and like any other MMO. It gets reported, they get their pee-pee slapped and sent back out to play for their first 20 offenses or, until someone of "status" reports them.

This made me LOL

Guys please re-read the OP.

I am saying that CCP need to set a filter or HTFU. They should be prepared for a PEGI rating change and not give out bans ad hoc.

Maybe i was too subtle, I enjoy the odd naughty word... i use them to express myself often. So does everyone else... CCP need to RECOGNIZE YO and catch up to the 21st century gaming world!

Shocked

I was running for CSM?

Um...Did I win? I hope I won. That would be a great surprise. Can I pack for Iceland now?

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

I feel the same thing when I read this. Personally, I do not give to ****s about how someone views the way I speak or conduct myself in real life. Why the **** should I? Does what I do effect you? Is what I say so sensitive on peoples ears that they explode at the conglomeration of noises that make up the word vulgar word for Feces? What is the difference being "You're a pile of Feces." and "You're a pile of ****?" Here, let me tell you. Not a thing.
If CCP is going to put a filter or be serious on banning each person for saying "I am so ******* mad right now. **** you." They need to ban people for "I am so frickin mad right now. I hate you." 'Cause you are saying the same thing but with a different word to supplement that you don't want to say another. Words are just words. It is the context behind it that brings them to life.

In the libertarian paradise that is EVE, you want to censor language?

Harden up. In real life people swear all the time and I seriously doubt you tell them anything.

In fact, I dare you to go to any bar and at the drop of one "foul" word you go up to the guy and ask him to check himself.

i don't think you understand what ratings are... they control the content in the game, chat is not content in the game.

CCP can, and will enforce control, just so people don't behave like complete asshats, but doing it, or not doing it, has nothing to do with the rating.

so long as the game has no boobs, drug use, alcohol consumption or profanity it is a child's game.

We aren't children ... now that is another point. This game is apparently aimed at children?? Hence the policy.

This game is not aimed at children.

So why do people get banned for swearing? That's the entire point of the thread.

Even though Eve is not aimed at children, neither are they barred from playing it. Everyone is welcome. Hence the need to control the foul language. You just do not know who is seeing or listening to it! Then many have families with children. Saying " keep your kids away from the computer whenever you play" makes parents choose between eve and family, not a good marketing strategy.
