There's too much censorship on the forums already, no need to add more to the game.

Online interactions are not rated. - No, but the game is.

More like a hard fact. - getting off topic, young teenagers or children, the point stands.

The game is rated, yes....but, unless you have evidence this language is part of the game (From NPCs for example), it relates to "online interactions", which is player to player interaction.

The moderation of chat channels by CCP is unrelated to game content.

CCP needs to either introduce some sort of filter and get serious or change the rating of the game. IMO.

CCP don't set the age rating of the game, that's done by an independent administrator under the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) content rating system, the independent administrator is the Nederlands Instituut voor de Classificatie van Audiovisuele Media (Netherlands Institute for the Classification of Audiovisual Media).

For reference PEGI has 5 ratings, none of which relate to the online content of a game.

  • 3: Suitable for ages 3 and older. May contain mild violence in an appropriate context for younger children, but no explicit language is allowed.
  • 7: Suitable for ages 7 and older. May contain mild, cartoon violence, sports, or elements that can be frightening to younger children.
  • 12: Suitable for ages 12 and older. May contain violence in a fantasy setting, coarse language, mild sexual references or innuendo, or gambling.
  • 16: Suitable for ages 16 and older. May contain explicit violence, strong language, sexual references or content, gambling, or drug use (encouragement).
  • 18: Suitable for ages 18 and older. May contain graphic violence, including "violence towards defenseless people" and "multiple, motiveless killing", strong language, strong sexual content, gambling, drug use (glamorisation), or discrimination.

based on those standards, EVE seems more to fit with 16 or 18 with the drugs/boosters (Exile, Mindflood, etc.)

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

PEGI 12

(Please don't start the fallacious argument that a rating doesn't imply target audience.)

I take a huge dump on PEGI 12

CCP are proactive in achieving the PEGI rating they want. They do however seem intent on giving us a 'sandbox' and then punishing us when we don't play the way they want us to.

Yup, second this suggestion. If the words bother you that much, the awoxer in your corp, his friend the thief who plans to rob your corp blind, and the random gankers will really upset you. I would suggest Wizard 101 instead of eve.

Bad language makes the baby Jesus cry.

But stupid threads on the forums make him drown the world in tears. Think of the world before you post.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Okay firstly. You state PEGI12... That's fine... But bare in mind that PEGI12 simply states that its suitable for people aged 12 and up and not that it is aimed at 12 year olds.

Secondly, HTFU. Seriously.

Thirdly, the majority of people I know (note I said that I know, not the majority in general) that play EVE, are all above the age of 23 (myself included), and not to mention that this game is often complained about as being too in depth by the younger genertions (note, not all of them).

Also what my many years of gaming with other humans has taught me is that the younger generation gamers (under 16) are usually the most foul mouthed.

Disclaimer: Im not saying this is the case indefinitly, however this is the case in what I have observed. I am sure others have noticed this too.

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

My corp prohibits the use of foul language as a matter of policy; no one expresses themselves in that way more than once. I expect pirates and other criminals to use foul language on ocassion, but it is often new pilots who seem to delight in it.
