fairly new player been in rvb a bit and love it but have been wondering if i should try FW but i heard it mess up ur standings real bad i know there are skills for standings but they are limited so basicly if i say sign up with caldari militia is there a way to avoid getting my gallente standings lowered as i like being able to go everywhere without being killled on sight i know you need real low standings but if i join id like to be in it for awhile

joining to militia does not affect directly to your standings, actions you do in FW does, if you just shoot enemy player ships without podding and without doing any npc related stuff (plexing or missioning or rat shooting) your standings will not change.

I though with actual mechanics fw is mostly "npc related stuff"?!?

Below is a list of stuff you'll miss out on in eve if you join Caldari and end up with bad Gallente standing:

First you have to do a lot of FW missions or capture many plexes to get your standings with the enemy faction below -5 (which is the critical point where enemy police starts shooting at you). Second, there are skills which allow you to bump up your standings with factions you have low standings with. And finally in the worst case even if you have horrible standings you still can run level 1 missions in low sec for the side so that you always can (slowly) bump you standings back.

Last I looked I was -10 to amarr and fairly hated by caldari and ammatar. Going on 4 years in minmatar FW will do that for you.

Thing is, it was never really an issue, I live in lowsec and I don't run agent missions, so there's literally no gameplay consequence to it.

In fact, the negative sec status I picked up during that time has more of a downside to me than being hated by scrubby factions no one cares about, but then I have an alt to handle my high sec procurement so again it isn't a problem.

It's pretty simple even without an alt.

FE i'm in the amarr militia. Right now i use meta3 blasters which are sold in amarr at a 2.5x markup compared to dodixie. So i just fly to dodixie in a shuttle and set up a courier contract to amarr.

Cheap and easy.

If you're desperately worried about someday needing to go to the territory of a Big Four faction you've upset, train Diplomacy V (possibly the most useful skill in the Social group, at least for someone who doesn't mission often) and every three months quit the militia for a day and run the Sisters of EVE epic arc, and do the last few missions for the faction with which you have the lowest standing. You can complete it in a few hours if you have a Drake, and it'll give you a massive standings bump with that faction with absolutely no counterbalancing standings loss with their enemies.
