Probably it is, considering that this thing is at least 15000 years old (built before EVE Gate collapse). We will know soon.

Out of interest, how do you know that it's 15000 years old?

I know about the EVE gate history, but I'm talking about the "Colony ship" Sarmatiko linked in particular. I mean it doesn't look greatly like any faction I'm aware of, ancient or recent, it does look beat up and it could of course be possibly Terran.

But that's going by what it looks like. I'm curious if there was anything in the data that suggested it was specifically made to look like something from 15000 years a go, like an item description or something?

Otherwise it could easily be a lost Amarr colony ship from the great expansion a few thousand years a go, going by looks alone Smile

Basically I'm just asking if we're assuming this is a Terran colony ship?

A torpedo rebalance is planned for Odyssey, but it might not be ready for the first release (Odyssey 1.0).

I would guess that ship is connected to the new exploration content that has been talked about.

From the Fanfest 2013 Program Book:
* new Corporation and Alliance features comming with Uprising [note: Uprising is the Dust514 name for the summer expansion; since Dust514 and Eve corporations and alliances are the same, I asume this will be relevant for Eve as well]
* Resource rebalance - resource distribution in Eve
* Lowsec PVP/Crimewatch - Team Five O [...] anounce their next new feature aimed at Low-Sec

Ah. I misunderstood, as I hadn't seen the screenshot before. It is very interesting. My conclusion is the same. If it's 15,000 years old, it probably is a Terran vessel.

I'm -very- curious what they've got planned for Lowsec crimewatch, resource redistribution, etc.

Also: any news on new T2 or T3 ships? Anyone? Plleeeease?

Does anybody know if there will be a change in the Ishukone skins? I saw a screenshot of the new Rhea and the skin seems different from the normal "fade-to-gold" Ishukone skins...

I think there's talk about T3 ships in the Q&A from two weeks ago. IIRC it doesn't look like there will be new T3 ships in Odyssey...

Edit: Found it: http://www.twitch.tv/ccp/b/388692587 it's at about 40 Minutes...

So here is the story so far with Odyssey. I'll try to keep it up to date as we go.
We also have a screenshot from the PAX East presentation:

SCREENSHOT 2

Left: Pirate tags of Guristas, Blood Raiders and Angel Cartel. Pirate tags for Security Status boosts?
Middle Top: Looks to me like some Sansha ships (Nightmares and Phantasm) next some asteroids
Middle Bottom: Some ice mining...
Right: Symbols for the moon minerals Dysprosium, Neodymium, Promethium and Thulium. Note that these are the four rarest moon minerals (even though Technetium seems to be the most valuable currently, due to bottlenecks).

Much speculation here. Some possibilities (all to be taken with a pinch of salt and a wry smile):

During one of the speeches last year at FanFest, SoundWave said "What if you could find moon goo in Asteriods?".

that's what my money's on

I still wonder if CCP has thought this whole ice mining change through...

If scanning is boring and tedious or at least takes more than 5 minutes.... I forsee a large swath of the ice miner population becoming enraged resulting in POS owners being enraged in the large increase in pos fuel prices.

The reason being is that most people ice mine because it is the least interactive of all the activities you can do for profit (except maybe PI interaction). I have my doubts that ice miners are jumping for joy at the prospect of having to actually do more activities.

If it is enaging, easy, and more profitable then I forsee no problems.

But if it takes more than 5 minutes to scan down a daily belt or an ice miner has to travel more than one system looking for ice belts, then I suppose most of them will quit ice mining.

That said, it might be that most of these ice miners don't want to return to the tedium of more interaction with mining regular asteroids (and fighting over mined out system) so they may in turn decide to just quit.

Which is great for anyone who continues to put up with mining ice and for those who have hoarded ice.

Hrm... Maybe it is a good time to buy.

Unless of course it turns out to be really easy to scan for ice, then everyone will depress the prices since they can mine it twice as fast.

I hope the Ice changes do go through to try and help with mining becoming more interactive. At the moment afk mining is king because you don't "need" to be at the keyboard, but if you did have to be at the keyboard and the profits reflected this, it would be worth it.

Well here is the deal... The reason ice mining is as popular as it is, is because of the lack of interactivity. Lord knows these people aren't doing it for the money (which regular mining has more of).

I don't know what the average ice miner does, but I suspect they do other things than stare a screen for 30 minutes. Maybe talk with friends, watch youtube/netflix. Maybe even play minecraft while they mine ice. And people pay $15 a month to do this. On multipe accounts even. Sure its not the most popular occupation, but it has a pretty good following (otherwise the belts would be empty).

I suspect many ice miners might actually dislike the fact they earn ice twice as fast now because it means they have to mouse click more often to dock.

My other point is, I don't think people are going to flock to ice mining because you have to scan down belts now. People who PVP and PVE aren't going to up and decide to switch to be ice miners because of this. I doubt even regular miners who like the reliability of having static belts are going to switch to ice mining.

Unless of course scanning is easy, somewhat fun, reliable, and gets you a ice belt worth mining in your home system in about 5 minutes from undock.

If it takes 15 minutes or you have to leave your home system to find belts... I suspect those who enjoyed the game in its current state will have no where else to turn to play EVE while actually not play EVE may actually find no other means of income gathering they enjoy. I mean people seem to like spending their time this way or otherwise the ice belts wouldn't be full of all those nice targets.

What I am trying to say is that if it even becomes slightly more intereactive to mine ice, then lot's of people will stop doing it. Some maybe even rage quit and no one is going to start playing EVE just to ice mine.

This of course will lead to ice price going through the roof adversely affecting POS owners.

That said, I am giving CCP the benefit of the doubt and assume they will make it actually enjoyable and quick to scan and give some sort of random chance to score big.

What I would do is that you would have different belts of different qualities and profitiability. That you could always find average ice belts in certain systems, but if you explored a bit then you'd find better qualities. If it is random and that you always had to travel more than one system will make people go back to regular mining or quit since they didn't want to be regular mining in the first place.
