Is there a rough idea when CCP will be changing the requirement skills for Capitals?

People are quick to jump the gun about how much faster it will now be to train for caps but in fact it now takes longer to train for them but once you get there you will have more SP spent on useful skills for flying a Capital.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

I think you missed something here. It will take the same amount of time to sit in a capital ship. But most of the skills added as prerequisites you need anyway to be effective flying one. So if you consider the new prerequisite skills were needed to actually fly one even though they were not on the prerequisite list, the training time to be effective with one is actually shorter.

I have 2 characters with carriers in their skill plans. Not needing racial battleship 5 will cut more than 20 days. The new prerequisite skills that add that 20 days back on where already in my skill plan anyway, so it still saves me over 20 days. Not to mention cross training capitals will also become much easier. you will only need the racial capital skills as all the other skills are generic. No more racial battleship skill to 5 for each races ships will save a lot of training time for anyone cross training several races carriers.

Once you train into a carrier for one race the only skill you need to cross train into another is the racial battleship at 3 and the racial carrier skill. all other prerequisites are generic, aside from skills needed if going from an armor tanked ship to shield tanked.

You just reiterated the very post you quoted. Except you made is a personal biography and extended it to three paragraphs.

TL; DR: Support skills replace pointless skills in the requirements so that you can PROPERLY fly caps sooner.

I think I would prefer leaving BS V as a prerequisite. Having said that, I'd also like to see Frigate V be a requirement for Destroyers, and Destroyers V a requirement for Cruisers... all the way up, so take my opinion as you will.

That's like saying you have to drive a motorcycle for a year before driving a car. Two years in a car before you get a truck. Three years in a truck before getting a van. Granted it would promote efficent piloting, but then new players would lose interest by the time they get to cruisers.
