The reason you use an alt and the duel mechanic is so both the alt and the freighter pilot can be in NPC corps. Members of NPC corps cannot freely shoot each other.

Or you know, if you have friends in your corp you could ask them nicely to help you... That is if you don't just afk autopilot your freighter like most do and end up losing it.

Edit: Or get your alt in the same corp?

I haven't dueled so I don't know, but I thought dueling gave you some immunity from outside forces during the duel? If so, then that would be the advantage of dueling vs. having a corpy web you.

Except a NPC corp wouldn't help, and being in the same fleet wouldn't change a bit.

Noone's stopping him from creating his own corp... Except his fear of not yet existand wardecs...

It looks easier than going through the hassle of inviting his alt to a duel and accepting it everytime he enters a system. Might even be faster...

You only have to issue the duel once - the LE timer resets every time you web the freighter. So as long as you're not dawdling, it will never expire between one system and the next.

If you're going to do this, invest in a huginn with dual faction webs. 30 km web range and ~85% speed reduction means you don't have to burn towards the freighter and it will warp off damned near the instant you lock it.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Dueling offers you no immunity to attack from others. It just means you and the guy you're dueling won't be visited by CONCORD when you shoot each other.

Oh god, no. Can you imagine how horribly abused something like that would be? It would probably ruin the game entirely.

this only helps.

However weapon timer.... It makes whole task a lot worse. In small systems (<30AU) your alt will sit in gates and wait this timer to expire while freighter already jumps through gates and needs webbing again.

So if you do it seriously i would advice using 2 alts.

You misunderstand the first rule of EvE.

It is not "trust no one".

It is actually far more difficult than that.

The first rule of EvE is "Learn who you CAN trust, and how far".

If you do not master this skill, you will never accomplish anything of significance in the game.

What are they going to do? Reach through your screen and strangle you with the mouse cord?

The only thing of value in Eve is our interaction with other people. ISK, Ships, modules. None of it means anything. They are just pieces of the board that only exist for the interaction.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

It's almost like the OP said "alt" in his post for a reason.

Why would you want to fight (duel) your own freighter? Wouldn't the freighter eventually lose that fight, especially if pointed??

Don't blame the freighter pilot, I'm just so damn convincing I can make people think I actually AM their alt.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

Wouldn't it be easier to just have both alts in the same fleet/corporation?

They are both in NPC corps, does that mean I can attack NPC corp mates without fear of the pesky porkers?

edit: Safety will prevent you from webbing, even in fleet. I invited to duel and webbed, however u won't be able to pass through the stargate right away. Also web range is 10km, when u both pop out of the stargate your anywhere 24km-34km away, making it pointless.
