Burn Jita Too WHY?

I well remember the first burn Jita event and the reasons (CCP) leading up to the event. However, What are the reasons for this seasons buring? Just the anniversary? Yes, I know that goons will be goons, but my observation is that while goons act in a goony way they often act strategically in large events. So what are they up to besides having fun? Burning isk for CCP? Pay back for some slight or sin? The Mittani getting his revenge for last years embarassment? Or just being Goons? Yes I know that it is much more than just goons, but what is behind it? Or am I giving too much credit to the planners?

Yeah, what he said.

And Jita sucks so bad, it might lag the spam bots a little. Lord knows CCP won't get rid of them. Roll

I hear people play games for fun.

We just don't find "your" game fun.

I seem to remember Burn Jita 1 being announced well before Fanfest.

For no reason other than they can and it's funny. Do you really need a reason to create content?

They are doing it because people are making it a profitable venture.

It if did not pay them to do it they would not bother.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

Maybe they just think Jita looks better in red.

I know I do P

It's not profitable when salvaging wrecks destroys content larger than a can - containers etc.

We do it because it's fun.

1- Its necessary to keep the goons happy internally and it reinforces the us/them culture
2- its useful to manage the attention of the game environment, positive or negative
3- its useful to manage the attention of the market external to the game environment (both for the aims of the Mittani site and = new players so for CCP and the game in general)
4- it is a demonstration of projected power, effecting immediate player experience and the market

The rhetorical platform is 'we will remind them who the f*** we are."

If you think Goons do things just to see their wallets fISK_Value variable go up, you have mistaken us for the bottom feeding bot miners that we're killing in Jita right now.

I hear that some people actually like shooting spaceships in EVE Online, a game about people in spaceships shooting spaceships.
