I just received an e-mail to activate for 50% off ($9.95). If I activate my account through this link using paypal will my friend still get his buddy rewards program PLEX?

I'd make sure it's a legit e-mail before paying anyone.

EDIT: And as long as you created the account using the email he invited you with, it shouldn't matter as long as your account is activated.

Since I am paying via paypal and it is a buy it now offer directly from CCP/EVE it seems that there should be no problems then. I'll try it I guess and post how it turns out.

if you have any issues at all with a buddy offer not working correctly then submit a petition under the 'Billing' category and a GM will be more than happy to help.

I checked with the Billing team, and your buddy should receive the PLEX or Game Time, depending upon what you choose :)

Edit: Just tried to use the link to activate and it just brings me to the normal price activation page... I had a petition in for so long waiting on an answer from CCP that I think it expired. Good job losing a ready to be paying customer.

WARNING TO ALL NEW PLAYERS: CCP Support can be very helpful and responsive as referenced by this thread or they can be so late that the issue has passed long ago as referenced by this thread I found while waiting for a response to my petition.

I have the same issue - I click on the link and it wants to charge me full price instead of $9.95, perhaps its because my trial hasn't expired yet.. I'm also waiting to hear back from CCP

How long was your petition in for? That complaint about the petition taking too long to get answered was less than an hour after your first post in this thread. The petition will be marked as "closed" when it is closed or expired. You'll get a response in due course - it could be a little bit more than an hour though.

CCP should take note of this thread though — it's always helpful to make sure that when you give someone a "half price" offer, you only charge them half price.

Interesting.

CCP has answered all my petitions within two days so far, and have tried to be very helpful. I have put in a dozen or more petitions, and the reply has been good.

They have only made two wrong decisions against me so far, but many, many more correct choices, and I realise this is the best company available to date.

My first mistake will have damaged the game, and now I understand this, I am truly sorry, and make amends at every opportunity, but CCP compounded the issue unfortunately.

And the second time, CCP was used by a player to defeat me, all the positive things CCP does, deflects my frustration away from CCP.

I have played this game for a year now and have not being banned for trying too hard, this is a first for me.

But I remember also being under the impression there was an official half price offer, which did not exist. I felt angry at the time.

No-one is perfect, but CCP comes very close.

After about 4 days I received a reply from CCP.

They asked for my email for the account, even though I'd forwarded them the original half price offer in my first email, which included the email address and my player name..

They then replied a day later stating that the offer had expired and they couldn't give it to me.

This was a valid offer, and it wouldn't allow me to click through on the day I received it - well done CCP on losing another customer who was willing to start a subscription..

All I can say is YAY! and Good Job CCP/ GM Moxie. I of coruse chose the 30days game time and am now, or rather will be, a happily paying customer. Also there was just a post about bringing back ship spinning; looks like CCP is turning things around for the better!
