PI Planet Scan Overview: Are those resource bars static?

Howdy,

yet another PI question. I think I read somewhere that those bars represent the planets concentration of a certain
resource. big bar = more resources from extractors in general.

Does anybody know if those bars change over time? I'm aware of moving hotspots on the planet. And that an area gets
depleted over time if heavily extracted.

I'm just wondering if my good lava planet with a 75% bar of felsic magma would drop if 1000 PI alts would extract
on that planet over 5 months or if it would stay at 75%.

And a second question, I guess there is no way of getting that value from a planet without having to scan. Or is it somehow part
of the CCP static dump db?

(1) I managed to erase a 32% bar in 4 hours with one character. So they are not static. Just deplete the planet hard enough.

(2) Planet resource data can only be obtained through scanning.

you must mean something else. I'm talking about the 5 P0 resource bars in the left upper corner when you hit the scan tab.
I don't think you erased that bar. you probably mean you mined a hotspot on the planet in 4 hours or something.

I got Proof of the concept: Link

The minimum time to reapply a Program is 60 sec. Now imagine depleting a 14 day Programs amount of resources in 60 seconds and redoing it for 4h straight. It's literally PI Warfare.

thanks for the link.. but still you dont understand my question, I am NOT talking about extracting/depleting certain spots on the planet surface!

Go to planetary view. then you have the build and scan tab in the upper left corner. when you hit scan you see the 5 resources available on that planet along with a white bar.

e.g. Barren planet

Blabla III

Build Scan


Aqueous Liquids ▓▓▓▓▓▓

Base Metals ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓

Carbon Compounds ▓▓

Microorganisms ▓▓▓▓▓▓

Noble Metals ▓▓▓▓


I mean these bars, the overall planet resource concentration.

on your webpage you are just proving that you can mine a certain spot dry on a planet. Thanks but everyone doing PI knows that an area gets depleted and that hotspots move around.

I'm sorry that I didn't take enough screenshoots for you to believe me. But I assure you that the overall planet depletion will be displayed in the five resource bars and if you can deplete 80% off all hotspots in 2-4 hours then the resource bars will display that info in the same matter as well.

Confirming you can pretty much mine a planet dry. Although keeping it dry takes a bit of effort.

The resource bars (the bars for each material on the planet displayed when choosing the scanning tab) represents how much of the material replenishes each day (at down time). The higher the replenish rate the higher the chances are of more of that material will be available on the planet over time.

The replenish rate is a good indicator of how much of each material may be on the planet, but because what other players are extracting also affects you this isn't always true. This is why for example a planet in a wormhole with 10 players setup on the same planet with most of these players making silicon or chiral structures these materials will be in low abundance, while plasma, base, etc will increasingly rise (if no one else is extracting them).
