Was recruitment scammed, by "Miner Meldody" with the help of his alt "Beatus Venter" ,

So the details for those interested, I had chatted in the recruitment chat, asking if any industrial corps were recruiting, that's when Miner Meldody sent me a message. Seeing If i was possibly interested into doing null-sec mining, I had stated that I had not been to null-sec before, but she/he had asked me to put my API into the test alliance auth page. Then you know alot of doubt and reassurance from Meldody, had stated things like that had been happening in the past but they has cleaned their act up. I had decided ok. I was interested and that's when things got even stranger, he had added his alt to the chat, and had mentioned something about some BS freight service, will I fell for it.

Listed .

1. Hulk
2. 3x Strip Miner II
3. 2x Mining Laser Upgrade II
4. 5x Hobgoblin II
5. 5x Mining Drone II

Yeah put into a courier contract.

Well the reason why I posted this because I had Google both their names and found nothing, nor did I find anything under the Corp name just the Alliance. So now it will be put here for anyone in the future to look at if they are approached by them and they have the foresight to Google any of their names.

+Hash tags to make it easier for future searchers.

Well..

TBH I dont care if people get scammed, good on them for catching people out.

However... Luring people in from the recruitment channel with the explicit intention of scamming people might be the issue here.

I know CCP has a rule around that sort of practice with regards to the recruitment chat so you might have some ground here for a petition. File one anyway to be sure.

If the person scammed them within recruitment channel (posted a position that was available then the OP messaged them), then they have grounds. If they simply invited them from the channel to a private conversation then the rules do not apply any longer. Otherwise all the goon/test scams wouldn't happen (most are pulled from the recruitment channel).

To the OP, it sucks that you were scammed. Keep in mind that organisations like TEST and Goonwaffe only recruit from Reddit and Something Awful respectively or from actual friends of current members.
Also if anyone asks for isk or assets during recruitment, 99% of the time they are scamming you (probably 100% but who knows with Eve). And I also see you googled the names (good call), but dismissed the alliance stuff. It would be rare for one corp in an alliance to not take part in the scams, as it is part of the culture.

Well... that were the line gets a bit blurry to me. Posting WE ARE RECRUITING in the channel to scam people to me is just the same as people sitting in the channel waiting for a mark to ask if anybody is looking for an indy player.

But that just me...

It sucks but yeah, opening an conversation with someone is a gray area... you might just have randomly picked that person from a search.

Yeah, I am not to upset, other then the fact that lost a hulk. If anything the thought of being part of an alliance in null-sec was kind of intriguing. Furthest I ever mined was in a 0.5 system. I just want people to know what went on, I was being very apprehensive. But "Miner Meldody" mentioned that this is an MMO and you gotta put some trust in someone or you will never get anywhere.

Well moment I put my trust in someone, what I thought was gonna happened is exactly what happened. =|

In eve it's quite different. You gotta put trust in people but prepare for the worst, you never know who'll backstab you.

It seems that this would be an easy scam to prove. Alas, the op has decided that his/her/its word is enough.

::sigh::

Don't be disheartened, you learn ways around losing things. For example when I joined my current corp, I took only what was necessary to survive, just in case it was a trap. Had it been a trap all I would have lost was a frigate and some ammo.
You learn what you need to do to not lose things.

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone, someone who read this thread ended up gifting me a hulk and fittings. So that just goes to show you that there is people in this universe who have kind hearts. I from now on I will be more cautious, I still don;t understand the point of scamming, but I figure possibly that person was much more hard up then I am? Though I wont ever pretend to understand why people do the things they do.

This whole thing is making me sick to my stomach. Some time back I believe I doubled Miner Meldody's isk a few times. That somebody might use the proceeds of my game to go on and scam people later on doesn't sit right with me.

So I issue a challenge!

Let's prove that there are more honest people who can read than scam artists.

Furthermore, let's take it another step.

investments of 1 billion or more with a message written in the memo of "down with Miner Meldody" will receive an extra 100m above and beyond the normal payouts.

Good luck.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

The two highest isk/hr activities in EVE are 1) working IRL and selling GTCs; and 2) scamming. Also it's funny scamming pubbies. General rule of thumb when I used to recruitment scam people four years ago was don't bother unless you can get at least 500m out of them. Your scammer is a poor and a bad for only getting a hulk out of you.
