Snowboarding/skiing at Fanfest (Tuesday)

These "not EVE" things should be a thing every year. Not to be down on EVE or anything (obviously we all love it), but going and doing chill (pun intended) outside things with devs sounds way cooler than listening to pubs sperge about how Archons need to be heavily buffed so that Amarr carriers can be the best because AMARR ARE THE SUPERIOR RACE.

Do any CCPers sail? I'd love to go sail around Videy or maybe further over towards Esja or something (next year, obviously). I don't care if it's cold. I know at least one of you flies, so I'd like to assume someone sails as well :)

I think the snow quality is probably not high priority when it comes to scheduling Fanfest P
I think it's awesome to have it so late this year, finally the players can experience somewhat long days and perhaps nicer weather Smile

I'm not sure if anyone sails, but I think there might be someone.

So are you coming skiing/snowboarding with us?
(btw, this is not really an "event", just something we and you guys are doing together Smile)

Edit: I went snowboarding today, and I think the snow right now is probably better than it has ever been this season... let's just hope it stays that way Smile

But the good thing is that weather forecasts for Iceland change frequently P so let's hope that we will still have some snow and that it will be open.

Do you guys want to meet up somewhere with my car and FreeBo's car and drive all together up there? I want to leave for the mountain at 1.30pm.

Also... I STRONGLY recommend a stop at a local ski gear rental place to get helmets for the people snowboarding for the first time (I could also stop by there to pick them up and people pay me later).

sounds cool to me Big smile but i need to find out from the wife what time our flight lands tuesday ...i know it takes off in the morning from heathrow ...but seeings how she`s organised everything this year i dont really have the foggiest about any itenery ... just go`s to show how organised i am Roll

Yeah that would be the best approach. I looked at the map but just following someone that knows where they are going would be better.

Maybe you could go with FreeBo and them? They will be leaving the mountain around 6pm (I think), but if you wanted to stay longer you could catch the bus to town (around 9pm).
(if not, it's possible that I have a seat for you in my car)

I might have 2 free spots in my car. I'm checking with some people to see if they want them.
It might be annoying to meet with the cars at the plaza... what about the big parking lot next to Bæjarins bestu (the hotdog stand)?

Might be a bit tricky but we should all meet up for a group photo at some point. I'll be up with my car load of developers around 1600. I realise quite a few people are heading up earlier than that. Perhaps if we meet up around 5 at the base of the quad chairlift (this is nice and obvious) for a quick photo session. :D

Checking in as said person looking for a spot in a car.

As I said to DV, I'm a total skiing newbie from the wrong part of the world for this fancy snow stuff, so if you guys are happy to take a rookie, I'd be keen to get involved, but if you are looking to do serious skiing of the kind that I'll be left behind in, I'm also happy to pass so that I don't boat anchor the event.

Anyway, I'll no doubt see some of you this arvo!

You are more than welcome to come... we will have more rookies, and if people want to do serious skiing they can do that, we don't all have to be together at all times Smile
The ski area is kind of small and we are all going to be using the same chair lift so it's all good Big smile
