Hello pod pilots !

A (fashionably) late message to tell you about an upcoming gathering in France.

A gaming festival, "Les 24 heures du Jeu", is held every year in the city of Theix, a small town in Brittany (Westernmost region of France). This festival is mainly focused at board gaming, but attract gamers of all kinds (Card games, Video games, Pen and paper RPGs, Board games, etc).

From Saturday the 29th of October at 1400 until the end of the next day, the festival will offer tons of activities, some of which are EVE-related. Yes, it's open all night long.

While no EVE PVP tournament will be held (It was hard to obtain an Internet access, apparently... maybe next year.), local EVE players will gather to discuss fittings, pewpew, or the occasional asteroid chewing around a CCP-sponsored EVE stand, where our favorite spaceship game will be presented to the masses.

For the board gamers amongst us, apart from the whole festival offering tons of activities to challenge other capsuleers to, a tournament of CCP's board game, EVE Conquests, will be held. Grand prize is an EVE-Conquests box, courtesy of CCP.

This event, is, as you can expect, directed mainly at French players - it's not fanfest-sized, so the past incarnations of the festival only received French visitors, along with the occasional UK citizen who wandered on the other side of the Channel. Yet, don't let the humble size fool you - the atmosphere is very good, and, best of all : it free !

The festival thought about inviting Meissa Anunthiel (the CSM member living the closest) or even a Dev, but the money dedicated to EVE didn't allow covering of such travel expenses... Help us change this, by coming en masse and overshadowing the town population ! (A goal almost reached last year.)

More information (in French) is available on the festival website, especially this page.

I will be attending (I do every year) and be delighted to discuss all things spaceships with all of you !

That was quite a weekend !

I'm back from Theix and slept a whole day to compensate for the whole night spent with fellow capsuleers :)

It was a very nice event - over 3000 visitors attended the festival, many of which came to our stand and had a look at what EVE was - the new character creation, as expected, was good at drawing crowds.

It felt good to celebrate our common enthusiasm for EVE with fellow players - I would say about a hundred EVE-Online players came to say hi or discuss with curious visitors during the weekend.
The EVE Conquests (board game) tournament was also a success, with a non-EVE Online player winning the prize (one game box). He told us that he had fun and will consider creating an account, even if "computer games are not his thing". I am sure he will receive a warm welcome (most likely with some bits of kinetic and explosive in it too) from the EVE Online players he defeated in this tournament.

My deep thanks to everybody who attended, especially the EVE players who stated at the festival entrance that they heard about the festival through EVE-related forums or local chat, as they made clear that Internet spaceships are a serious business, and even more space should be reserved to them in the next edition.
