The Sphere

is now open. Let's give it whirl, shall we?

*Looks off camera*

What? I can't believe that's the best line you could come up with! This is going to cost you a hand.

Ahem.

I retract that egregious pun in favor of "Let's try it, shall we? "

I share some of the concerns that have been voiced about this alternative venue. I am, however, one of the rabble that is not entirely satisfied with The Summit's moderating team. Therefore, I will gladly support this experiment and encourage as many as possible to use the forthcoming channel as an alternative, not as an addition to, The Summit for the entirety of the trial run.

To that end, I will be setting aside 1 billion ISK. I will distribute cash gifts at my discretion to pilots who are in the new channel but not present in The Summit. The amount of the gifts will vary. The time of disbursement will vary. Regulars of The Summit who are willing to abstain from that channel and give this test their best effort will be given more weight in my consideration of beneficiaries, though new faces are also eligible.

Try something new. Contribute positively to the experience. Get paid.

I just noticed this. This is hilarious.

Experiment Concluded!

Channel has been closed.

Conclusions:

1. Lack of moderation was highly successful, and channel occupants seemed to do quite well.

2. This did not translate into interesting content or conversation. Being able to be unfiltered in content and commentary does not equate to interesting or worthwhile content.

Channel closed, perhaps we will visit the issue again in the future.

I'm not sure if this proves or disproves Diana Kim's conclusions about free speech.

This isn't a fault of the model. Moderated commentary offers no such guarantee either.

An interesting little distraction, and made me a profit at that. One or two useful contacts were made.

Since it's been deleted. Would you mind terribly if I made the Sphere into a permanent channel though my own fluid router hardware, Silas?

The Sphere is back! So get all your wenches and buy some cold beer and connect to fluid router ab-16! Simply search ' The Sphere. ' in your neocom and join in on the conversation!

I encountered the same thing, but I missed the full stop at the end of the channel name.
