People like you are the cancer of EVE, OP.

If people like you weren't so dumb or wanna-be-clever, there would be a lot less scammers spamming the channels.

About 4 1/2 yrs ago, back when I was a young capsuleer, I took a chance on one of those 'Double Your ISK' things to the tune of 15 mill. That was pretty much my wallet amount. After I sent the ISK, the scammer did a private convo with me asking me to do 100 mill, Of course he didn't know I didn't have any more ISK. I simply told him to first double the 15 mill and then I'll gladly do the 100 mill. The scammer told me he was in convo with others and would do it shortly, then he left the private convo.

All attempts at trying to re-establish communications was futile. I then placed the scammer on watch list and set him to red standing. I then stayed logged into the game for long lengths of time, at least 16 hrs a day, always looking for him. When he logged back into the game, I used a locator agent and quickly warped over to the system he was in and spammed Local chat linking his name with the words = Liar, Thief, Scammer. Eventually he left the system and after I did a mad dash jumping into neighboring systems, I found him again and started doing the same thing again, spamming Local with my message about the scammer. He soon logged off.

However, I remained vigilant and whenever he came online, I was soon in the same system posting my message in Local. This went on for about a week, then one day he sent me a mail message saying I had won, deposited 15 mill in my wallet and told me to leave him alone.

Sure, I didn't get the 'Double Your ISK' but at least I got my initial amount back. Granted it took me some time to do that but in the end vengeance was mine. I've heard it said before that vengeance is best when served cold but I'm here to tell you that it's way better when served fresh, hot off the grill.

shill.

Edit: in other MMO's it is possible for a single player to rid a single server of 'ISK'/'gold' doublers. I do not think the scale or mechanics of EVE allow this. There are two steps. Often only one is needed.

1- you bombard their means of trade with zero value transactions. It makes it impossible for them to respond to their marks.
2- while doing this you actively troll them out into public, beyond their bot ads. They get quite angry and ruin their own market, but usually that is not even necessary.

I know this works because I have done it multiple times in multiple games. It simply becomes unprofitable for them to operate in that area or on that server. This actually works for many kinds of third party profiteers. Eventually you can create a local cultural norm about it where the potential marks now have a persistent hostility toward such activities and take pride in trolling them out. The ISK doubler is essentially 'lazy' and will move to someplace easier to operate. Because EVE is geared to be able to handle transactions and is so vast this would not likely work here, nor be worth the trouble. It is necessary to create a consistently hostile business environment for them. Though it does not take the kind of 16 hour obsession reported here, you do have to be vigilant for a short period of time and willing to log an alt. Educating the 'mark' alone is insufficient. However if other people relaize they can punish the doubler in some way it very rapidly becomes good fun to do so. Actually paying the doubler anything is the opposite direction you want to go. If you cannot destroy their profitability through insane transaction costs there is little you can do. 'Education' such as the OP imagines not only does not work, but creates the opportunity for shilling by the doublers themselves, as we see above.

If I'd thought about it a little harder, at the time.... your method does make a lot more sense.

Carebears and ragequitters are the cancer of EVE.
I'm more like..... well... I can't think of anything that is 50% annoying and 50% actually kind of amusing to have around, but if there is such a disease, that's what I am.

Jarod, could you just cut out the text boxes and post them in full size? I checked your screen shot and the text was too small to be readable without effort.

Or, better yet, maybe you could just post the chat log?

And, as an aside, I think you should conduct another test on a "real" ISK doubler. If you send me 1 billion ISK I will give you 2 billion ISK in return. If you doubt me there is only one way to prove it.

That's just silly.

Only one person has made a helpful post here, so far, and that's Shao Huang... the guy that actually shared a REAL method to get rid of these a**hats. Which is one of the reasons I posted this.

And, you're not even that unique.... like, half the people that have left dumb comments here, have said the exact same thing you just did.

Lol. Can't tell if drunk or challenged in other ways.

Did you expect anything less after you bent over for a scammer, and then came to brag about it?

The professional doubler will often invest in some small, leveraged, group of people in order to create shills. You are transparent.

That was the dumbest thing I've read in some time. You gave her 1.2 billion to confirm that yes, she'd take it?

I thought it was going to be a blog about how you tested with small amounts to see where she'd stop returning the money, and / or tricked her into "doubling" some of your cash some.

You titled your blog about getting even one scammer out of Dodixie; did you? Is she still there?

No, I'm not crazy or daft. This happened back when I first started playing this game. YES it was only 15 mill ISK (my total wallet amount) which is a lot to a new player. Obviously you missed the whole point of the story - I got revenge and at the same time foiled any attempts of the scammer to scam others.

Hell, Andski, Tippia, DMC and Frying Doom does that all day and none of them spends a single ISK to do so ... Lol

First of all, how dare you include me with them.

Secondly, you forgot to include your own name to that list.

Third, I don't troll.

Noobs, don't fall for dumb crap. And here is why, in plain sight. I've been in this game long enough to know a scam, and decided to do something about one of them, so you all don't get roped into this kind of thing.

And at least I got something to amuse myself with for a few days.

"Dude.... you're a scammer, and I'm not falling for your scam, I don't care how many people say you're legit. But, I'm bored, so here's my money, and I'm going to try to ruin your ill-gotten credibility. Watch me give zero f***s, and make a joke out of it.... even if I'm the only one who thinks it's funny." pretty much sums it up.

Now, tomorrow, I get my new apartment and computer, so hopefully all my future blogs will be about my comical approach to PvP.
