Still not convinced by the arguments from those who disagree with this idea. Still no word from CCP about these ships for the winter expansion. I shall bump this thread until one of these two regular expressions becomes true.

imo an additional mid slot could never justify the nerfs to the ship's other capabilities that would have to accompany it.

You really think that giving the Retribution another mid slot (i.e. a ship having 2 mid slots) would involve a nerf to the rest of the ship? How would it be imbalanced to let it have a point?

I really think that CCP really thinks that. The monomid is a deliberate drawback; removing a drawback without changing the rest of the ship (particularly, the strong points that were given it with the idea that they would be balanced by this drawback) is a buff. If CCP doesn't want to buff the Retribution, but does decide to give in to these demands, then yes: they'll nerf the ship, and instead of invincible anti-support you'll have something so mediocre that even its presently overlooked roles will be better filled by the Vengeance. (Really, the people who say "oh, just remove a highslot, it's only a utility." Are they planning to put autocannons on it?)

That said, they're supposed to be looking at all AFs come winter. You might prepare to advocate harder for this when we start to get an idea about what buffs will go to other AFs. "No, don't give it a tracking bonus! You fools! Look, the new Wolf regenerates armor when struck with EM damage, it's safe to give the Retri a point now."

As it stands now, there's hardly any reason to train for small energy turrets. Instant ammo switching? Oh yeah, you get like 6 different crystals to micromanage in a fight if you want to cover your optimals through the whole interval not to mention the cap use and no damage selection.

Let's face it, if you want to fly a good frig you'r stuck with winmatar or, if you'r a masochist, gaylente. Even a theoretical bonus to dps means ****-all when you can exploit resistance holes easily and have the best base speed and agility not to mention relative immunity to neuting.

CCP play your game!

The only reason to train small energy weapon... is that you can train medium and then large energy weapon Cool

No troll.

Even flying retribution solo for pve sucks since everybody knows you are pve-fit. Nice ship though and I would love to see it with another mid.

I would not go that far, small energy pulse are very fun to use; I love it on my slicer. I agree that there is less use of these than AC turrets (I happen to fly an AC punisher, while it is an amarr frig) though. It is not because small pulse suck that they are not that much used. It is because there is too few good ships that use them.

Ironically single mid slot = great group ship.

Yes you can't tackle AND have speed. But take the Retribution, can be a nice little tank/gank when there are other tacklers around. PvE they aren't too bad either the Retribution, again a great little low level FW mission runner.

The Hookbill, Kestrel, Merlin and Slicer are excellent pvp choices. Manner up.
