yay for watching more Goons kill other goons in newbships for an entire weekend!

Last time it was actually safer for a non-goon than it was on a normal day, since the only ppl the goons were really targetting was other goons...in newbships...just to get the number of ship kills up to make it look scary.

Bring it on, and i'll still move stuff in and out of Jita, and be just as safe as normal.

If it makes news for people outiside of EvE to read, I see it only as a good thing really. It's advertisement at the end of the day, regardless of whether you wear a tinfoil hat on Burn Jita's true meaning. The Goons will always get people's backs up, but that annoyance extends a lot further than Goonswarm. They just have huge numbers and dedicated management to organise things like this. Meh

Additional: plus it gives people something to moan and rant about :)

isn't there some turn of phrase along the lines of "no press is bad press"?

I'd honestly be more impressed if the carebears in Halaima would (FINALLY) band together, and stand up against James315 et. al. (and obviously, after subjecting carebears to the same dec-shedding ***** [carebears] do for a while, stick around and fight) Would make for good stories all around (not to mention more people "getting" eve)... or at least I think anyway.

I'm unfortunately nowhere near as good with the rhetoric as others, so I doubt I'd be anywhere approaching "successful" with this myself... though, if I had a proper propaganda director, maybe it could work.

I'm gonna go roll an alt and see what's what tonight. Twisted

Yup, no press is bad press. At the very least, events like this get EvE noticed to some extent or another. If it happens in HS, people make noise. I think I now understand what Goons mean when they say 'We do this, because we love you!'. Eve gets noticed, so people are more inclined to try it out. Some of them will stay, some will leave.

I'm not 100% sure of the mecanic but could some planning (yeah I know high sec plannign stuff in null...) enable timers to expire during burn jita forcing some people to go back to null?

This si of course based on the bad assumption that EVERYONE will be in high sec shooting people in Jita. I'm pretty sure it won't be the case.

Because, Tank, like everyone outside these Forums and the Goonies, the Caldari State and CONCORD couldn't care less.

But the Forums and Goonies need their herp-derp to feel like they are relevant.

A hypothetical highsec army could have arranged this. If they started dropping SBUs and reinforcing structures prior to any planned event in Jita, they could have timed it so we would have had to leave some people in nullsec to clean up the mess.

The theory falls down when you realize "highsec" doesn't have a supercapital force capable of denting the hundreds of millions of hitpoints needed to even get that far, and any sub-cap fleet will be cleared up by pretty much anyone.

Of course. I was mostly checking if I had the sov mecanic straight in my head but what about all the missioners/incursion people high dps ship? It's nowhere near capital/supercap dps but high sec has number on it's side if they actually pull off the miracle of working together no?

And of course, if those numbers are grinding tower one way or another, there is someone who would notice anyway...

Well ok, outside of the laughable concept of some armada of faction battleships sailing off into 0.0 you might want to read this: http://themittani.com/features/discussion-primer-sov-warfare

It's a good intro to it.

For what it's worth a single moros will out-damage 20 faction battleships.

I mean if I was in Test leadership and bored for some trolling I'd either:

A. Go to Jita en mass just to mess with the Goons.

or

B. Invade Goon space forcing them to retract the event to fight in large space battles in null.

But seeing I'm not in Test leadership nor do I think they have the guts to take on the Goons even when their proverbial pants are down, Test will just do whatever test has been doing for the past several months instead and let the Goons do as they please.

Yeah, but with the shakeup in the Null economy caused by the resource distribution change planned for odyssey, anything is possible...
