This post is for further information regarding the two tournaments will be running at Fanfest 2013.

Q: What is the eligibility to participate in these tournaments?
A: You must have a ticket to Fanfest 2013 to be eligible for participation in both tournaments held at Fanfest 2013.

Q: Do we have to bring our own computers?
A: No. It would be silly of us to tell you to bring your own computer all the way to Iceland.

Q: There is very little time for error with the sign-ins to Fanfest 2013 opening at 10:00 and the Tournament starting at 11:00. What happens if my entire team is stuck in the queue?
A: We will try to be accommodating to teams who have queue difficulties, like moving around matches and other such measures, but ultimately we will need to keep the schedule. We are aiming to have these tournaments a blast for all involved, and that is what we will do.

Q: Can we have team members on standby if one of our pilots doesn’t show up or drops out?
A: No. If only 4 people from a team show up, you play a 4v5 match. This is due to the fact that we only have prizes for 5 members of a team.

Q: How much time will we have to prepare for a match?
A: While a match is going on, you will have access to a computer to prepare your setups and fit ships to use. This should give each team at least 10 minutes to prepare.

Q: I want to bid on the auction for a spot in the tournament but I fly to Iceland before I can contract the PLEX to CCP. What can I do?
A: It is okay to send the email about your bid and immediately contract the PLEX to CCP. If your bid was not high enough, the contract will simply be canceled and you will not lose your PLEX.

Q: I didn’t see this email in time but I wanted to participate in the tournament! What can I do?
A: Unfortunately that means you will not be able to participate in the EVE Online Fanfest 2013 Charity Tournament since sign-ups happen prior to Fanfest, rather than at the venue itself. You will be able to sign up for the EVE Universe Tournament at the venue however.

Q: How will the sign-ups for the EVE Universe Tournament work? Can I sign up as an individual or do I need to be a part of a team?
A: You do not need to be a part of a team to sign up for the EVE Universe tournament. If there are individuals signed on, as well as partial rosters (two or more people that sign up together), CCP will match these players together to create a full team. Additionally, a full roster of players (16 for a DUST 514 team, 5 for an EVE Online team) can sign up in one go. The benefits of signing up a full roster is that your team will have priority if we fill up on teams.

Q: What happens if all of the spots are full in the EVE Universe Tournament and I want to sign up?
A: Since the sign-up is happening at the venue, once the spots are full and we have 16 teams of 16 DUST 514 players and 5 EVE Online players we will not be able to accept further registration. This is a first-come first –serve basis.

Q: What do you mean if you fill up on teams?
A: We have 16 spots for teams. If we get more signups that we can accommodate, we will need to select people that can play over others. Therefore we have opted to prioritize full rosters, meaning that if the last spot only has 14 people, a 16 people team may override them.

UPDATE: To see the entire Fanfest 2013 schedule, it is now available online here.

More information will be added to this post if required.

Answers to questions I have seen so far:

  • What server will these tournaments be on?
  • These tournaments will be on dedicated servers that will be housed within the venue and will not be accessible to the public. Players in both EVE and Dust will be using pre-created characters with maxed skillpoints. Items will be either made available or seeded cheaply on the market for both tournaments.

  • Will these tournament servers be running the Odyssey ship balance changes?
  • The versions of EVE we will be running for the tournaments will not incorporate the ship or module balance changes planned for Odyssey. You can expect your ships to behave like they do on tranquility.

  • How can I fit ships and dropsuits to prepare?
  • There will be time assigned before their matches in which teams will be able to fit their ships and dropsuits. This time will be strictly limited and we know that competitors will be under significant time pressure during this period.
This pressure will be equal between all the teams and being able to pick and fit your compositions in the limited time frame is considered one of the challenges that teams will need to overcome to separate themselves from the pack.

  • Will unique ships be available for the Charity Tournament?
  • We will not be seeding unique ships (for example previous tournament prize ships) on the server, so they will not be available to competitors.

  • Why are Energy Transfers banned for the Charity Tournament?
  • We do not expect this specific rule to carry over to most other tournament formats, but the combination of small teams and no bans meant that energy transferring tinker teams would be especially powerful in this particular format.

Can you expand on this? It reads like only people who received the email can participate?

Done and done. The reason for this wording is that the sign-ups for the EVE Online Fanfest 2013 Charity Tournament are handled prior to Fanfest.

I clarified a bit in the OP

I obtained my tickets via the Fansite program petition, yet received no email aside from the usual fansite one which did not contain the tournament sign up information. Is this intended or an oversight? I don't think I'll be participating anyway, just wanted to clarify.

For the DUST portion of the tournament, will we be playing with the current Chromosome build or the upcoming Uprising build?

For DUST, will officer gear be seeded or will prototype be the highest level available?

Also, the description notes that the team that captures the bunker will get to perform a single orbital bombardment. Is it a case of a "single orbital bombardment from an EVE ship, with war barge strikes available as normal" or "a single orbital bombardment from an EVE ship, with no war barge strikes available"? Will the team that earned an orbital strike still need to score the 2500 war points with a squad to call in the orbital strike, or will it be available without scoring the war points? Additionally, will we be required to perform the orbital strike with the ships brought into the arena, or will we have an opportunity to use a different ship? If we have to bring the ship, what happens if the only ships capable of bombardment are destroyed?

EDIT: Also, are we going to have DS3 controllers only, or are Move and KB & M going to be available as well?

While it's lovely to have the rules posted, there are still a bunch of things unclear.

Firstly, will a schedule for FanFest be posted before the silent bidding ends? I have a number of people who are interested in participating but only depending on whether the Tournament may collide with certain round-tables. If no schedule can be made available, we may just not bother attempting to enter.

Secondly, I've heard that in previous PVP Tournaments at Fanfest, pilots have been provided with cloned characters that have maxed skills and assemble their ships freely (much like on the Test server) without cost. With the move to more Alliance Tournament-esque rules, are players bringing their own ships and characters this time around or not? Same question applies to the EVE Universe tournament too.

Also, a huge number of people (myself included) didn't receive the PVP Tournament mail because spam filters likely picked up on the term 'Infomail'.

I highly recommend the mail is sent with the less spammy subject line, otherwise a lot of people may be upset at not getting an opportunity to enter.

That particular question has been answered already.

Once we have the full rule-set for the EVE Universe tournament up on this forum, this should all be clear. I currently don't have an ETA but I will make it as fast as possible.

Yes, the full Fanfest schedule will be available before the bidding ends.

I have a question, if my team enters and we get in, will it be possible to have our first match pushed to the back of the queue? I don't arrive until the Thursday, my flight lands at 9:30am. =)

For the EVE / DUST combined tournament pilots will have access to all Assault Ships + T1 Destroyers hulls with a selection of T2 modules available for fitting.

For DUST we will be playing the Uprising build on characters with preconfigured skills, items and a collection of fittings although you are free to come up with new fittings given the additional items in your assets. The game modes will be 4 and 5 objective skirmish although they run a bit quicker than usual.

    I'm unsure about this.

Does it refer to drugs or gang assist modules, I presume the former. If so, are gang assist modules legal?

Can we bring out own mouse/trackball/input device? Both picky gamers and those who may have disabilities (such as being accustomed to Dvorak) may have difficulties with what is provided.
