How do you report botters?

I have created 2 petitions in which I have reported 2 miners who are obviously botting, a few weeks ago.

  • They warp into system
  • Release drones
  • Target nearest asteroid (usually veldspar)
  • Fire both lasers at the asteroid
  • after each cycle there are a few seconds of pause, and lasers are mining again

Nothing happened, they are still botting away.

My question is how do you report obvious bottersQuestion
I would really love to wardec them and shoot them myself, but I'm mining too, so wardec might not be a good idea...

...and I don't have the skills to fly a suicide ganker in high sec.

Objective sighted. Target locked. Lasers activated. Pew-pew-pew. Die roid..., DIE!

How do you know thy are botting? Maybe it is just one guy with ISBoxer mining semi-AFK while he does something else?

And your proof of botting.

Could be a person who multibox while semi AFK doing other stuff.

Since neither of the responses answers the question:

You can report botting via the online petitioning tool.

http://community.eveonline.com/support/petitions/

I believe you can use either exploits or EULA & Terms of Service as a category heading. Perhaps someone will correct me on this. I seem to recall that there used to be a 'report botting' option but I could be dreaming that up.

You can attach a screenshot to your petition.

One option that you can do to test for botting is to fly your ship into their ship as they mine and observe the results. Some botting programs will immediately warp off, some will fly back to the asteroid, and some won't even react but a player will typically respond in local about what you just did.

Not entirely true. Some players don't like talking in local for fear of being trolled with random bountys etc. Others might pm that person, or attempt to bump you in return. I know i am guilty of mining while watching a Tv show, but that does not make me a bot.

@Op
Then train your char. takes maybe 9 days for an industrial char to have a solo gank ship against a bot. Who knows maybe you can even get the ore said bot was mining in addition to the modules it may drop. Then you can salvage as well if it is T2 stuff.

Ummmm.... Does bumping work for those not ready to jump into full on ganking? That is, can you bump the barge out of range? You would determine pretty quickly if they were a bot or semi afk that way since you might get a erm.... Response from them if they are semi afk. Maybe bots adjust for this? I dunno.

I dont know about everyone else, as I am new, but I dont always have local up and rarely pay attention to it - regardless of my current activity. If/when I have chat up (I minimize it quite a bit) I usually am using custom channels. Local isn't always the most pleasant, useful, or even tolerable conversation to be had.

If you want to engage someone in conversation, send a convo request. I did that with several miners this weekend (as I salvaged) and a good 90% of them responded.

I haven't seen a single piece of proof in your OP that makes that person a bot.

Quote:
* They warp into system
* Release drones
* Target nearest asteroid (usually veldspar)
* Fire both lasers at the asteroid
* after each cycle there are a few seconds of pause, and lasers are mining again

* Of course...how do you move around in system...also by warping (no proof of botting)
* Well. How would you kill rats...aggressive drones (no proof)
* Overview sorted by distance, select top one (no proof)
* Hit F1 - F2 (no proof)
* That's normal...even when you are ATK after each cycle the lasers take a small break in they visualisation (no proof).

What I see listed here has absolutely 0% proof of a bot and 100% of a typical multiboxing high-sec miner that does play another game / does real life stuff while mining.

And I don't talk or even look at local talk. I have it open in null to watch for enemies, but that's it. For chat channels I used actually channels with normal people in it and have conversations about normal stuff.

if all those actions were being repeated with the exact same timeing down to the second from the moment of undock till they are back in station then you would have reason to suspect a bot. but from what little info you have given us i would have to agree with the previous posters that this is likly not a bot. boting software has become much more advanced in recent years to the point where even veteran players will have doubts as to if what they are seeing is a bot or not, its best not to make a big deal about it until you have some solid proof.

Hmz.

Other then Flurk, nobody was complaining about the quality of his English.

Tbh, I don't see what's wrong with it (as a non native English speaking guy). I understand what he means, which in my opinion means he has typed a good OP.

FYI: It is actually now possible for players to directly report potential bots from in game. Simply open the character's show info window and in the top left corner click to bring up a drop down menu. At the bottom of that menu is the option to report the character as a bot. Simply click that button and follow the directions. Once submitted, our team will investigate that character more thoroughly and determine if they are in fact using scripts to play EVE. We encourage you guys to make full use of the in game reporting method.

Report them and let GMs investigate.

Also, send the New Order folks some intel on their location.

That way if they are completely AFK (botting) they'll get banhammered, and if they are partially AFK they'll just lose their ships and maybe pods.

Ok, I know I am WAYYY out of my league.
But forgive me for I am a 100% baby / Noob in EVE - are we not allowed to be Away From Keyboard?
Is there a time limit or something?

I don't have bots yet and I'm still busy with the tutorial so I do not have the skills or understand even half of what the original poster asked, but I too left to get some lunch while doing my mining tutorial. I even quit the game while on another mining run, only to "come back" the following day, with no Asteroids.

Or is it something that is just frowned upon. If the question is way off and stupid, forgive me but can somebody just clear that up for me........Thanx

as far as i know, you can go afk for as long as you want. just do not expect your ship to be still in one piece when you come back. especially people such as my colleagues are very keen on escorting AFK miners out of their ship and into a new clone.
botting is another issue though. if you have a program interacting with the game client on your behalf, you can and should expect a ban.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Doing something afk particularly Mining isn't against the rules though many players frown upon it, it is the use of scripts or programs that tell your ship to do actions without player imput. For example telling the ship to target and fire on asteroids or npcs, or when to warp back to station or a safe pos.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

Consider your next post very carefully.... The banhammer is very big and very permanent when it comes to botters
