Never really was any good at things like this but here goes...

Throughout my time as a capsuleer, I have been a long-standing supporter of the Caldari people and the ideal of the Caldari State. I have served primarily in military service as both a leader and a follower.

My tenure of service has been marked by successes and failures, upsets and pleasant surprises. The most recent of which was an unexplained, several month absence during which time the corporation I had laid the foundation for crumbled in on itself and my name became a shadow of what it once was.

When I returned, I returned to a very different climate in the State and in the cluster. I found new haanen and haaniin to call suuolo, new enemies and a new landscape. Most importantly, I found more solid, capable and merited Caldari serving in the capsule, ready and willing to stand for the principles that make our people great.

At some point, every leader must recognize when it is time to take a step back and let new leaders and new followers take a hold of the future. For me, that time is now.

Effective immediately, I have resigned my commission in the State Protectorate and retired from active military service. It is expected of me to remain on reserve should the State once again require my services, and I will do this with a mixture of pride and humility.

It has been my deepest honor to serve alongside the honorable and merited members of Pyre Falcon Defense Combine, Ishukone Raata Enforcement Directive, Fourth District and many others whom I am failing by not naming. The capable leadership of the soldiers I have served beside and under stands as a beacon to all Caldari and it is with this hope and reassurance that I have decided to step back and let those more capable than myself take charge.

I will be serving in an industrial capacity alongside my wife for the foreseeable future and hopefully I will remain welcome among my kirjuunen in arms.

Bright stars and clear horizons, may the future shine for each of us.

Rikaato

Stay safe out there Mal.
You're still one of the best examples of a true Caldari that I have had the pleasure to meet.

I sincerely hope those who follow you have the foresight you have shown.
Your honour and courage are an example to all.

Because the wise tend to speak softly, we only hear the brutes' screams, and we end believing we live in a world of brutes.
Some people have this rare quality, their voices are heard amid the howls, yet they don't need to shout to be listened to.

It's tempting to think you were granted this quality by some favor of the Winds -and if this statement only shows my poor knowledge of your culture, I apologize.

May your words be heard again and remembered.

I'm sure your weapons will be missed much in the frontlines, but I understand all too well the need to take distance from armed conflict from time to time. It eats you up, slowly, like a growing cancer.

I'll keep listening to your wise words here, and wish you the best of luck in your new industrial endeavours with your wife. May that family life bring you all the rest and healing that such a long time in the frontlines requires.

A Caldari paradigm. I'm not a woman of metaphor but I believe the horizons of the warzone will be a touch foggier with you not around.

Khross-haan;

You need not hope that you will be welcome; know that you will be. It is my admittedly selfish hope that you'll continue to share your wisdom and level-headedness, traits that we can all benefit from even if you aren't on the front.

May your new ventures bring you fortune.

Khross-haan;

I was very happy to read this. You pour your heart into everything you do, and have earned this rest from combat. I just know that you will be prosperous, and I hold every hope that you will be happy. Best of luck and best wishes.
