I enjoy playin´with da Boyz too ... Been a while though. I get my WH fix these days off the PC ... Sad

Never got into the table top version and box sets. All my friends were into D&D and Twilight 2000.

There was a Games Workshop store in our local mall that hosted games. But they soon closed down.

So all my WH 40K experience is PC.

Didn't like the Orcs starting out, but after playing Dark Crusade, I've come to love da Boyz.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

Well its not 7 that is giving you issues. I've got DOW and Dark Crusade on all of my systems (via steam) and they all work.

Same here and it works on 8 too.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Never really got a chance to play the game, but I did manage to learn to paint and green stuff the figures pretty well. Since the models were so expensive I would buy a box and some miscellaneous Bitz on the side and make little dioramas. One I was particularly proud of was Gotrek and Felix getting overwhelmed by Skaven/Beastmen hybrids. Wish I had a picture but I gave them away to my young cousin when he became interested in WH. Many frustrating rainy afternoons went into trying to get this one Rat ogre/ minotaur mix just right, but it was worth it in the end. Might have to contact that cousin to see if he still has them so can send me pictures.

i had a small army of Black Guards (space marines) once, but i never really got in to it because it was so damned expensive.
i have been hoping for a computerized version of the actual tabletop game though, i would really love that! (just like bloodbowl really)

i'm a sucker for the grey knights and the Tau in 40k, and the orcs + skavens in fantasy.

so my warhammer fix is currently being fed by Warhammer Age of Reckoning and the dawn of war franchise (blood bowl as well)

Dear Gamesworkshop.... just give us a damn PC version of the tabletop game already or make the figures cheaper!

Is bloodbowl any good?

it's pretty good, if you can bear over with the constant 'screw you over' factor of the dice rolls, and the risk management.
i've had a lot of fun with it, but tonnes of frustration as well.
it's the only game i've experienced where your player tries to run with the ball, stumbles and dies on the spot.
your players can get permanently injured, or worse die, and you won't get the dead ones back, and the permanently injured of course, stays injured till you get rid of them, or they die.

Its getting interesting, what with 3d printers coming to the consumer market slowly the potential exists to undermine the entire GW business model. Article here.

well techincally we could shove some warhammer figures in a 3d scanner, and then shove that file in toa 3d printer and make pirate copies of the figures.
on the other hand plastic/resin for a 3d printer is not cheap atm, so is it worth using such over buying the actual figues?

I wonder what the point value is of a field 3dprinter.....

Tyranids, hauling chunks of pulverized plastic back to the printer....

My friend did something like this with the 3d printer at his office. He worked it out that he could print 10 chimera tank kits in their base component for the price of kit from GW. This was recycling the left over parts to make yet more component boxes.

I have a closet full of Space Marines, of which only a small percentage is actually assembled, and an even smaller percentage is actually painted (I went with the Salamanders' Chapter).
I bought that stuff ages ago and never did anything with it (and looking at current day prices, I doubt there will be any new stuff).

Maybe, one day I'll find the time and incentive to build something resembling an army list and then make it look pretty in a display case or something.
