Odyssey: Paving the way for fully fledged pirate factions?

Pirate factions could be allowed as a character switch sort of, say for example, I could grab this character And decide to turn it into a Gurista Character After all guristas are caldari mostly, make it irreversible and change gameplay for it like this:

On null sec I can shoot freely without getting a criminal tag, I m a criminal already.

On High sec its the equivalent of null sec for me, I m FFA, but concord will not jump into the Fray, so I could jump into high sec and engage at will, and people from the normal empires could engage me at will as well.

High Sec stations and stargates will shoot at me on sigh always, the same for navies and faction police.

I gain access to Faction specific missions separate from those the agents already give, this missions provide more LP and ISK than regular pirate missions.

etc etc, something like this would be cool.

Yes, it would be really nice if CCP made NPC factions that catered to only players which negatie sec status.

Maybe they could give LP for every miner in low sec you kill.

I would make it like faction warfare though...

So the faction police are after you whenever you enter hi-sec, but you get rewards for piracy.

If this was sanctioned, I would probably give up my high sec status for easy access to the bhaalgorn Twisted

If ccp wants to expand eve and keep it from being stale, it's the only logical way to go.

I mean, the pirates would have eventually stolen capsuleer tech, and modified their ships for a pod to fit anyway.

If You take a look at the "Pirates" You'll see that the NPC Pirate factions mostly are fully fledged stellar empires with colonized planets of their own etc. Some of them (sansha) even do have more advanced tech than the other empires... :/

So while their initial capsule tech might have been stolen, it is more likely that they now can and do develop and build their own Capsuleer commanded ships.

Also, they must be really rich, loosing a million Ships a month and being able to replace them is no easy feat. Lol

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

More meaningful interaction with NPC pirates would indeed be awesome, even just simple things like belt / mission rats that take into account your standings towards them. Actually joining up with them would probably only be an option if the benefits / drawbacks were significantly different from the current FW mechanisms though. After all, if we wanted to do FW we'd be doing FW.

Adding pirate factions to FW would allow you to switch in and out of the factions at any time, without requiring newbies to grow up in them. You could join as an individual or join your whole corp, same as any current FW faction.

Adding them as options for day 0 newbies would be interesting but would create some difficult problems. Would there be "highsec" pirate faction space? Would it be protected by CONCORD?

That sounds cool. Pirates with their own version of concord that attacks any non-aligned capsuleers.

maybe no concord level ships, but you could get assisted by 2 or 3 Incursion level war ships based on how lowsec its your area.

0.4 you get assisted by 2 Incursion level advanced frigates, 0.3 cruisers, 0.2 battlecruisers, 0.1 battleships.

Concord its a safe measure Carebears need, a real pirate doesn't need the help of such Overpowered NPCs, but the assistance of a pair of fellow pirates should be more than enough.

There are already pirate factions in the game. They are called low-sec/null-sec PvP corps.

Just imagine actual pirate factions in EvE... You start in nulsec, and are KOS in highsec. NPC Navies hunt you, but attacking other players in highsec won't bring CONCORD down on you. You can hunt down other players to your heart's content, just so long as you are able to fend off the Empire Navies that will hunt you down with equal fervor...

I would definitely go for something like this.

It's a well known fact that pirates migrate to empire to breed. They allow their young to grow up in the sheltered pools of peaceful high sec until they are a few months old as capsuleers, at which point they grow a spine and venture out of those protected area's and back to their natural habitat and feeding patterns.

Pirate Faction tutorial missions...

Military Missions 1-10: Warping to belts and sitting there.
Advanced Military Missions 1-10: Warping to gates and sitting there.
Industry Missions 1-10: Warping to belts randomly, filling up with large amounts of ore in frigates and never docking.
Exploration Missions 1-10: Warping to random deadspace pockets....and sitting there.

I dont think CCP could make pirate-faction CQ's, especially if they allowed you to play as a sansha citizen.

borg meets reavers anyone? total Helldeath McBloodgore on every square inch of tiling?

Firstly this entire thing would be a brilliant idea and yes we have heard "rumours" about being able to affect the sec status of systems but i'm unsure on how that would doe that Pirate FW would be a way (atleast).

But for CCP to bring in fully fledged pirate faction options within the character creation, pirate missions ( not gate camp and wait xD) but something more interesting.

But being honest I dont believe they will announce anything along those lines well atleast not for awhile I will hope and pray that they do in the near future e.g next year's summer expansion or though not at all likely this years winter expansion.

Secondly for the quote, I'm fairly sure there has been one Player that was placed within the sansha ranks awhile ago to play along side the npc's, someone please correct me if i'm wrong here, though i'm pretty sure i read about it a while ago (a couple years at least)
