Two explosions were reported at the finish line for the Boston Marathon. National Guard personnel and local police are containing the area. Several casualties, no fatalities reported. Massachusetts General Hospital is taking in casualties, several with missing limbs. Will update as I can.

Confirming three deaths, according to medical personnel on the scene. Observation right now is the explosions were not car bombs, one appears to have been set in a trash bin. Tending to wounded right now, will update.

It will be interesting to find out who did this one.

Movie theaters, schools, colleges.......marathons.........

And people dare wonder why I tend to stay at home anymore.

Updating between triage with a corpsman buddy of mine. National Guard EOD and Boston Police bomb techs on scene, paramedics working with National Guard medics to stabilize.

Third explosion belatedly declared controlled by BPD and MNG.

Okay, I can take a moment to connect my keyboard to my phone.

Right now the appearance is it's a coordinated attack. This roughly coincides with the tenth anniversary of the killings in Fallujah by the 82nd Airborne. BPD and MNG are not saying anything right now, we're providing some security and helping people get out of Dodge. There's some controlled explosions going on.

Leadership is something you learn. Maybe one day, you'll learn that.

Third bomb was a controlled detonation. No one was told, though, so there was a lot of scared people running around. You know us Marines, always running TOWARDS the sound of gunfire and explosions while others run AWAY from it like sane people.

Leadership is something you learn. Maybe one day, you'll learn that.

There's no point speculating who did it. Whoever did it, surely will speak as they always are on stitches to speak.

3rd Bomb went off at JFK Library. Announced at a press conference, no details on if there were any casualties.

Edit: JFK Library incident is now being reported as a fire and unrelated.

Today is the 100th birthday of the late Kim Il Sung, founder of North Korea.

I know it's unlikely, but could a pro- North Korea terrorist be responsible?

Saudi individual in custody, termed a 'suspect'.

As a former Marine, Semper Fi, stay safe, and go get 'em.

5 Bombs at a marathon, 2 went off, 1 at JFK Library went off, maybe more there, they are not releasing information. One of the captured devices is said to look homemade

I think any serious organization would have planned better than this. They are probably looking for one to a few people maybe with loose ties to a larger group. Perhaps a US grown Muslim extremist, one of those survivalist types or just your garden variety psychopath.

Edit: Bomb numbers called into question, JFK Library misreported and not related.

Always possible. It is also Patriots' Day in Massachusetts, which is a state holiday/

I'm at HM3's house now. We're winding down. Mainly drinking water, and we'll probably do a lot more drinking after what we saw today. Happily after the first portion where we were bandaging stubs, we started to handle the minor injuries. Nothing better than handing a lollipop to a child who you just taped up her cut arm.

Leadership is something you learn. Maybe one day, you'll learn that.

It's probably not a massive attack on the scale of something like the London Bus bombings, but it does seem decently coordinated. I doubt one person is involved.

Though like you said a US grown extremist is probably more likely, but you never know these days.

Seems the JFK explosion was confirmed as just an accidental fire happening at the worst possible time and misreported.

That was a pretty small device, and it just sounded like gunpowder. What?
