Make ship command and operations more complex

One of the game series that I enjoyed the most were the Star Trek: Starfleet Command series (the older single player games, not the online version).

What I liked the most about those games was that you could control many more aspects of your ships, like diverting power from one system to the other, adjusting shields to different areas of the ship, having Engineering repair damaged systems, etc. I know you could do many other things as well, I just don't remember all of it.

Another game that comes to mind is TIE Fighter. I think it was in that game where you could target subsystems of enemy ships and knock them out, without completely destroying them.

I think having things like these would make EVE much more fun when engaging in both PVE and PVP. It's just my opinion, but I think having more responsibilities and options with your ship would make things more fun, and interesting. PVE would need to be redone so that NPC ships have the ability of knocking out systems and causing havoc well before you're in structure, forcing you to react differently depending on the situation. Players would be able to do the same to NPC ships. It wouldn't be such a boring grind any more. More skills and items could be added so that you can do the same thing in PVP, and make engagements more tactical and complex.

I would assume something like this would take a long time to implement, and I'm not sure how realistic this is in terms of adding it to EVE. What issues do you think would arise from implementing something like this?

go to low-sec, gank-battleship, destroy engines, leave.
proceed to nextv available target, gank warp engines, leave.
next target, blow up engines, leave.
next target.... you get the idea? subsystems are bad as they just encourage thwe more dickish players to fly around and pew pew certain subsystems in gank-ships to make the opponent rage.

also, as for strategy in pvp... what benefit would there be to destroying any subsystem except for weapons? all this would do is make fleet fights even more of a "who shot first" scenario, as people would only ahve to knowck out weapon systems then move to next tagret, requiring the victim to FLY ALL THE WAY back to home base just to reship, effectively making fleet fights BORING.

and as i said earlier about the engine thing? yeah, would totally hapen, you would have null-sec and low-sec full of mining ships unable to move cause of blown up engines.

all subsystems would do is make ganking quicker and easier, because there are only 2 systems worth looking at:
1) weapons- to be a ****
2) engines- to be an even bigger **** (especially if they are BS or larger pilots)
