Request for information: Amarrian revels

Good evening;

I may soon undertake an excursion to the Khanid Kingdom to re-establish some family business ties. Considering this, I've been attempting to review the political situation in the Kingdom and neighboring Amarr Empire. 'Revels' have been repeatedly mentioned in the news reports I've been reading, but this term is opaque to an outsider.

From the latest reports, the revels are tied with increased risk of violence, and an increased need for security. Is this simply a renaming of social unrest, then? What circumstances gave rise to these revels?

While I have no worry about the impact of these revels on my business in the kingdom, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently, these revels are also a chance for the Amarrians to reveal their bias against their own allies. Screw them.

Vikarion-haan; while I appreciate the pride that motivates your statement, it seems unworthy of us to raise ire when blood runs hot enough as it is. So long as the contract's cancellation fee is paid in full and in a timely fashion, then all is well. This is why any well-written contract will include escape clauses.

After all, if these revels are a religious matter, it seems sensible that believers oversee them. Similarly, if this is a matter of social unrest, then I could see how the Empire would wish it to be handled internally.

We can't fault another power for being protective of its sovereignty.

I've never been a fan of the Empire, Miss Priano. I am entirely comfortable "raising ire" with them, especially when there were at least a couple cheering on the Federate attack on Caldari Prime, amongst other things.

Were these orthodox Amarr, Vikarion-haan? Amongst the capsuleers, we can find no end of psychotics and madmen, those who'd make poor representations of the ideal of any state. Consider how you would react if others were to judge Caldari as all being of a type with Mr. Horn or Ms. Kim.

It would scarcely do us -- nor our counterparts -- any justice if we judged others by the worst among them.

I believe there are no "revels", but people who join the "revelry", which refers to the holy festivities the Amarr have, currently being held in the Kador region. So I don't think you should fear any sort of problem with your business, or any social unrest during your visit to the Khanid Kingdom, and even if you went to the Kador region the biggest problem you might face is the damned plague that Blood Raiders are. Do know that captain Vitalia's blood hounds supposedly are active in the Kingdom area, so you might wish to take some escorts with you to guarantee the Blood Raiders remain hidden and don't attack you.

As for captain Vikarion's claim... is it so horrible that we cancelled a contract with Caldari mercenaries? Have no corporations ever canceled contracts before? I believe it is actually common economic pracitces around all the cluster...

Seems that the friendship express has left the station and the big four missed the ride.

Perhaps this will turn Hi security space into a Free-for-all, or allow new alliances to be formed.

She'll be fine so long as she stays in well-lit areas and has someone to walk her home at night.

Maybe.

What everyone else said: You shouldn't have any problems from any law abiding Amarrians. If you want to join in, fine. If you don't, that's fine too. Just watch out for Blood Raiders - they're drawn to high concentrations of unarmed civilians as much as any other terrorist group.

Thank you, Sepherim, for your response on this topic. I'll likely only be passing through the Kador holdings briefly, but I will admit I was curious whether these events were civil or religious in nature. Knowing that they are religious is helpful for long-term projections.

While I very much doubt revelers could breach hangar security and pose a threat to me, stability is good for business. It's as simple as that, really.

I don't think that a group of people who've had a bit too much sacramental wine breaking into your hanger and singing drunken hymns at you really counts as much of a threat. I think the worst "assault" that would happen is that you might find some passages of the Scriptures turned into gold paint graffiti on your ship or covering it in long strings of multi-colored blinking lights, all in good fun of course. Also when people start talking about God's Love excessively that it's not any kind of sexual invitation (and if it is, call the TC hotline & they'll take care of it).

Just remember to avoid any party invitations to non-public places with people you don't know. Blood Raiders will likely try to infiltrate at some point.

Religious and cultural tradition gives rise to these celebrations.

Yes, in a manner of speaking, they are a form of socially proscribed social unrest. I wouldn't call them 'civil' as they're less political and more cultural.
