That was always the problem. Despite all the high ideals of liberty, the federation seems remarkably discontent with allowing other entities to make their own domestic choices unless they're mirroring their model.

To be fair, the Federation is not actively discouraging the rigid social system of my people.

Speaking from experience, it's not always a good idea to sit around and wait till the Federation actively discourages your social system.

Then if you'd prefer me treat you like a Provist squaddie Kim-haani, then I shall do so, and simply state I do not have to be lectured on the performance and execution of my duties to the State by a half-breed mongrel Saisio dog. My ancestors at least did in fact fight, die and bleed to ensure the independence, liberty and freedoms of the Caldari people, our culture, our corporations, our colonies and our State from the oppression of foreign dominance and intrusion.

"Saisio dog"? I understand that you are likely speaking in anger, and do not intend to offer any defense of Kim-haani's attitude... But I would, with all due respect, urge you to be a little more tactful, Gesakaarin-haani.

While it is true our forebears contributed little to the founding of the State, the Achura people bleed every day in a war fought mainly over a world our distant ancestors never even knew.

And unless I am quite mistaken, ones predecessors are to be revered, not used as a qualification of merit.

I would ask that you do read the paragraph with its original intents:

1. To highlight the irony to Kim-haani, that for all her professions of love and affection for the CPD and the Executor, her very own background would in fact be a point of derision that no doubt will get her very far if she were to join them because she does not fulfill the specific racial discriminators of full Deteis-Civire descent to the generations required. While it's never been a publicly endorsed policy of the, "New Meritocracy" it's simple enough to read the subtext that the only persons who matter in the Executor's vision of the State are those who fit a very narrow, genetically specified, definition of being Caldari and in this, Kim-haani does not qualify.

2. That a desire for independence, freedom and liberty are not solely espoused by the Gallente and the Federation, but is a desire that was held by Caldari colonies and corporations languishing under the parochialism of the Federation.

Perhaps it is a fault of mine in believing that others would be able to perceive such intents with the small rhetorical flourish in which it was delivered, but unfortunately it seems I was mistaken. For clarification then, I do not hold the particular regressive notions that race and ethnicity is directly tied to ability and performance as may be espoused by others. I care less for race, gender, sexual preferences, creed or religion for I judge and discriminate upon the grounds of talent, ability and merit in service to The Company and The State. It is only with tolerance, respect and understanding that the opportunity to do so can be provided, and in which those talents, abilities and merits can be properly fostered.

It is just as I do not see the Achuran half-breed some other, perhaps less enlightened, citizens of the State may see in Kim-haani but rather a woman who has shown her commitment to the State and her own convictions through service and sacrifice. Even so, I do not tolerate having my personal honour and integrity impugned upon no matter how small, snide, or petty the remarks and those that do should not be surprised when I dispense with the tact, pleasantries and niceties to provide them with frank and honest assessments of my own.

I hope that clarifies matters, Ikiryo-haani.
