Nothing surprising though. The Iceland solution to their meltdown in 2008 possibly incorporated some lessons learnt from the EVE market (simulation).
You don't hear about it too much in the mainstream news however.

Heck, infact I was looking at the BitCoin scene and there it was, a massive bubble building. Text book speculation and manipulation.
It burst after the cat was let out of the bag.

RE: BitCoin, the future could be all these game companies linking their virtual currencies to RL. I'd trust ISK more than BitCoins, for example.

.... waits for the day when a "fictional" virtual currency, from an MMO, surpasses the Euro as a means of real world electronic commerce and trading. Stranger things have happened, and a "currency" is only as valuable as the consumer confidence that uses it. Pirate
