i am the GM who removed your drones. Don't read too much into it, I just prefer the winmatar militia tbh

I've seen the tactic used a number of times over the years and it has always resulted in your drones being cleared and a GM warning issued, I have never seen an instance where a GM approved of the tactic or ever having heard of it being green lighted. This tactic used to cause serious local lag and has been used recently to help put systems into TiDi. You should escalate the petition for a more definitive answer.

Setting out drones and cans and stuff to decloak people is 100% legit!!! It is not an exploit...

The exploit is putting out too many drones/cans, such that the grid-loading procedure is lagged. You are NOT allowed to purposely create lag so you can get a kill. Another example of a lag-inducing exploit this is convo bombing...

Much better off doing this with scanner probes, no 2m delay between each jet.

^^ This is what I recommend..... Drones and cans have an acutal image to load... which is why putting 1000 drones on a gate can result in exploit-level lag when loading system. Probes do NOT have such a graphic intensive representation. Additionally, you can deploy 7-8 of them at once (depending on your skill), with repeated deployments simply requiring multiple jumps through the gate. They are cheap, easy to deploy, expire in 1 hour, can easily be recalled (reconnect, recall, reconnect, recall... rinse repeat until they are all recalled), and thoroughly mess up people's dscan when they have probes added to the overview!

Nice, I had not thought about probes. Unfortunately I had three accounts issued a warning for "u lag on purpose" and I'd rather not put my faith in another clueless gm.

I use this tactic frequently. Instead of drones or cans, I use corpses.

I jump into my target system with an alt with a viator filled with corpses. I ordit the gate at 12km and drop corpse after corpse, changing orbits every couple minutes.

It works...and most player who dont have biomass added to overview never know what hit them.

Also, corpses dont despawn after 2 hrs, so the camping can last all day! and unlike cans, there is no wait time between deployments.

youre welcome.

Ive had biomass on my overview for quite awhile after hearing about this tactic xD Still dont see it used as much as drones or cans though

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie

Exploit? You mean, preventing a ship from cloaking because of game mechanics?

1. As you so rightly pointed out, every member of the GM team is a minmatar sympathiser so it's only an exploit when YOU do it.

In fact I plan to do exactly the same thing to you and I'll get away with it as well MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

2. Anything that might cause lag is an exploit. Dropping hundreds of drones counts as this, the first GM that told you otherwise is wrong.

if everything that creates lag is an exploit then we better ban every null fc for swarming systems with 300 man blobs!

everyone in jita needs a ban too for slowing down the system!

All this tactic does is puts another nail in the coffin of a true solo player.

Gate camping is and always has been the lowest form of pvp. 99% of kills are not even worth posting.. but still, you post.
