Frozen at "Loading Characters"

Alright, so pretty frustrating stuff. Loaded up my client after a lock up, and got stuck at the "loading characters" screen. It lets me click, and plays the sound like its receiving the command, but does not load the characters, or their images.
I cleared the cache, deleted the settings folder, and tried reloading, still same problem.
Later out of frustration I uninstalled the program, and deleted any folder I could find relating to eve . . . yeah
Reinstalled the program, still same problem. Even ran the repair tool.
At this point, I am pretty frustrated and unsure of what to do next.

Any help is appreciated!

Alright, so I found out if I do not touch any of my graphics, windowed, or UI scaling settings, it works fine, but is rough on my computer since I cannot run with high settings......

edit-- Specifically the window size setting that stop me from loading characters

Yeah, I've been running into this some myself. One solution which I've had work is to trash the entire preferences folder and have the app rebuild it from scratch. This has the annoying side effect of destroying all your preferences, etc, so is clearly not an ideal solution. Probably there is a more subtle version of this that doesn't throw everything out, but not knowing what is broken it's hard to say what. 'Till someone tells me otherwise, I'm probably going to have to go back to my old Dominion-era habit of keeping a backup of my preferences folder somewhere for when the client corrupts it.

Also, I find that I get ONE login per day right after downtime.

At least I can update my skillqueue.

Clearing the settings sometimes works.

I get the idea there's some "refreshing" going on server side every few hours.

I am getting this issue now. And I need to update my skills.

I hope CCP reimburses lost SP because I can't get onto my characters at all to change skils Sad

I'm going to try everything I can to get onto any of my characters while I can. I'll say anything here if I am able to get on and how.

I turned on fullscreen, the character screen did not freeze, however I clicked enter and just kept on loading and froze from there.

I need this issue fixed asap.

I've cleared all my EVE settings, I've cleared Cache, I've changed graphics. I'm not even going to bother with an entire reinstall because that would simply take a long time.

I'm just going to file a petition and try get this sorted out, because I've had previous problems before with the map screen freezing up every time I opened it for months and now this happens. I'm expecting soon EVE won't open up at all.

Even if I put in threads in the mac forums no dev ever sees it so it never gets sorted Sad Just need to hope this gets fixed because events that I was going to be doing in EVE won't be done now and I can't even change my skills which is going to lead into SP loss and with this new skill changes I won't ever get it done which leads into lots of SP loss. I also need to make ISK which is not possible until this is fixed.

EVE Repair shows nothing is wrong as well.

I'll file a petition and hope this gets fixed very soon.

I DISCOVERED A FIX. Anyone recieving this issue follow what I did and say wether this repaired your client or not.

1) I deleted my cache
2) Deleted EVE settings (This step may not be required)
3) I ran the EVE repair tool
4) I open up the EVE client
5) Update runs
6) You can get onto EVE Big smile

Everyone follow these steps but try not to do step 2 and see if it works. Because it sucks having to set up everything again.

I am now having issues again and can't even get onto EVE past the character screen now.
That fix I said only worked once for me Sad

By the way.

If you are recieving this issue tell what type of computer specs you have.

I got

Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M

I believe this could be another NVIDIA 9400M issue like what has been happening previously with the map freezing.

2008 imac. Ati 2600 pro graphics, It's not a Nvidia issue.

btw: this started when I cleared my cache to update my faction standings.

It freezes at the chatacter selection screen.

I notice that after it crashes there's nothing I can do on my side to make it work.

I think it's on their side. And it gets repaired every so often.

Yeah I found out it isn't an Nvidia card issue.

I believe this could be linked to the settings. Apparently clearing settings can fix it however I don't want to delete my UI settings every time I launch EVE because it takes an hour to set it all up again the way I like it. I can't confirm if it is a settings issue.

But when I went back onto EVE to clear cache before I descovered this issue I had a warning message of some kind which someone else said they had (I forgot what the warning said however I cant get it back).

But my other account is losing SP right now because I can't even access the skills Sad
I am going to lose SP if this doesn't get fixed soon.

I hope CCP will reimburse lost SP.

I ran the EVE repair tool 4 times since I was getting different results and stuff.

Second run of the repair tool displayed a error detected then the rest of the runs repaired it.

I logged into EVE. I logged in perfectly fine.

I logged out and quitted EVE. Logged back in and I received the freeze up on the character screen AGAIN.

It appears every time you run EVE the issue returns after you fix it.

This can cause a massive issue however if I get disconnected during combat and need to get back online asap because it would take me 20 minutes to log back on and get on. Second log run showed this.


DBRunRecoveryError: (-30974, 'DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery -- PANIC: fatal region error detected;

The part above showed in the EVE Repair tool. However this forum was not allowing me to post the entire log for some reason.
Also with my previous logs it appears there could be a problem with the EVE Transgaming folder. Possibly this problem is happening in the Transgaming folder.

I think the Dev's are much to busy putting together faction battle cruisers than trying to fix this issue . . . . uninstalling Evil

Every time I had an issue and stuck it on forums, Devs never reply on the forums and I still have the issue.

I take it as the devs won't fix this issue at all Sad

Fortunately, I can at least get in a LITTLE and do my skills.

And play TF2 while I wait.
