Ok so,

im nearing completion of my trainin for a rhea so i can get stuff fome point A to point B. However I have a slight issue id like to address.

Iv recently hear from another player that the rhea relies on a cyno feild from one or both partied involed (ie i have one and my target client has one) in order to jump from said A-B.

is this fact or myth? iv not seen anything that states that a cyno gen is required save for the fact that the rhea needs to be able to jump so id assume the use of one for its own self saffitiant dont need a gate operations.

In other words, other then fuel, what is the basic operation in order to get from system A to system B thats sayyyy 15 jumps away?

thanks :)

lets assume its not a troll : rhea can jump through stargate like any ship, and can also jump to a cuyno, but if you dont know how its works, you're far away from being able to fly a jump freighter.

Incase this isn't a troll:

Jumpfreighters can travel through gates, and use cyno fields as well.
To jump to a cyno field someone else in fleet with you has to light the cyno at your destination, you can then jump to it with the JF. You can't light cyno's in high-sec, you can jump out of high-sec into low/null sec, but not high-sec to high-sec or low/null to highsec.

For the record, no I'm not a Damn troll, ima player who is asking about jump freighter operation. Can the rhea jump on its own?

Last bit for the record. Its replays and smart ass answers like these that push the players away. A simple yes or no answer with Mabey a breath explanation would have done nicely.

-No, it can't jump on it's own. It needs a ship lighting a cyno at the destination. A cyno cannot be lit in highsec.

-Yes, you are an idiot for training for a jump freighter when you don't even know how jump mechanics work.

-Yes, there are wiki pages, posts and various other information sources explaining the basics of EVE. Look for them, read them, then come here.

-If you simply want to transport items around hisec then forget about the jump freighter and get a regular freighter.

A Rhea is a very expensive ship. it takes more than the skill points to sit in one to make proper use of it.

Without knowing how to best use cyno's and having your own cyno alts, you will not last long before your Rhea is popped. Loosing an 8 billion isk jump freighter is not just a chance to learn from your mistakes, it hurts.

Yes a Jump drive, no matter matter what ship it using it, requires a cyno in the target system to jump to. You can only light Cyno's in low sec and null sec. not in high sec or W-space. The only ships with jump drives that can also use stargates are jump freighters and black-ops. But the black -ops work a little different.

This is not a troll but a warning. if you need to ask how cyno's work, you are not ready to fly a jump freighter. They are far to expensive to learn as you go. blindly jumping to a cyno someone lights for you in low sec is suicide. Unless the person lighting the cyno is a very trusted real life friend, that will not let your Rhea get blown up just to laugh at you, you want to light your own cyno's with an alt.

My advice is start out with watching tutorials on you tube, then when you feel you got the basics go on SiSi and practice there. You want to jump directly to stations, not into deep space. a safe spot will not work. As soon as the cyno is lit it will show on everyones over view in the system, and will stay there for 10 minutes. Anyone in system wanting to get in on a capital kill mail will warp to the cyno. And in EVE everyone wants a capital ship kill mail. even your best friend. On SiSi you can buy a jump freighter for 100 isk. The best way to get fuel on SiSi is to buy compressed ice blocks for 100 isk. refine them and you will have plenty of fuel. Trust me a few hours on SiSi practicing jumping around and lighting cynos is guaranteed to reduce the chances of losing your first jump freighter on TQ. it will also help you get a feel for what sort of range you have.

For the record, you can light a cyno in a WH just like in Low / Null. You cannot JUMP to a cyno in W-space.
