Why am i divulging this information? Because im out of the game soon and at present my only game play is on these forums.


I know a group of people who play EVE only for the the markets. They all work in the Stock exchange and like to play EVE so that they can run market simulations for multivariate analysis of real world markets (This is multiple independant variables used to predect a depandant variable).

None the less they are very rich .


They have recently changed there entire tact for one simple reason and that is to punish a certain RMTer who controls a very large region of EVE and to make an even larger fortune. They have been buying up PLEXes through shell companies and alts to push up the price of PLEXes but they have done this slowly pulling in a lot of peoples private stock.

There aim is to force the price of PLEX to over 600 million isk by Christmas. After which they will wait a month and then cash out riding the market wave.

There aim of this is to have PLEX so high that people outside of the game switch to buying PLEXes and ignore RMT which will force him to lower his own value of isk and perhaps mean that he cannot make the rent that month

A hell of a lot of subs will be lost over this as plexers can no longer afford to play, but it will be over by Jan-Feb when they can all come back. Its already starting to bite but enjoy the ride.


Lastly. Ive burnt my bridges over this but i promise you that it is still going to happen

And how does this group of Really Bored Analysts plan on dealing with CCP's ability to step in and adjust the PLEX market? Or, given how much money is involved in RTM, how do they avoid having a social visit from their local Russian mafia?

Noone ever "divulges" something that is actually true you *****. People using that word should have the 23-volume greater english dictionary for words exclusively used by purple-corduroy-pant wearing marketeers and corrupt politicians' aides hung from their scrotum using a half dozen rusty fishing hooks.

and another -1, leading to -3 and out for being dumb enough to think EVE market analysis can actually teach you something real life market analysis can not.

look gents i really dont care ive told you the deal and thats it.

Shell companies are used so you cant trace the source as its not a mechanic that available in EVE.


The prices are going up. and its not russian mafia its someone trying to pay the rent.


Ive tried to hint at it in other threads but im out of game now.

LOL at which point, everybody else goes right to the accounts page and buys PLEX directly from CCP to sell for isk to take part in the price gouging.

In any sense, its going to be hard to control the price on something that has a real world dollar value that WONT change.

The last person who tried to manipulate the plex market could only sustain it for under 24 hours. This is not a group manipulating the market it is the sheer amount of people switching accounts to plex instead of paying RL.. This has been a trend that started after Incarna and is now starting to peak.
