People hate those who get too big and try to dominate the game. Goonies are 'it' for the time being.

They made it worse for themselves when they over-ran the CSM as well.

The 'hate' comes from resentment.

A blatant reference to "rear entry" intercourse (lol, take that, filter) and you didn't see it as censor bait?

I remember now! Good lord, why do people create such names! All due praises to the great censor, keeper of purity and righteousness.

I don't know. I'm sure there are plenty of goons that are nice and don't post on the forums, but the ones that do seem to be all uppity and full of superiority smugness for the simple fact a 13,000 man alliance let them in.

Ah, but would you recognise one without the GSF tag?

let me try:
- every thread about mining barges, gangs, pvp and nullsec. whatever people say the most stupid posts you can see from people with GSF mark. Someone from them havent' this mark but they post "yes, we are goons" in another threads
- posts with word 'pubbies". Noone except goonies use this word.

So yes, most of a time you see goony even without GSF mark

So you are confiming that you think Tech moon placement is fine, 0.0 having next to no industry is fine, the mach making the skiff pointless is fine and the current sov system is fine. Afterall, you dont agree with goons.

Here is an answer, but it concerns all of the large alliances:

When you post on these forums alot of people will judge your post by what alliance/corp you are from.

Your post will probably be viewed with Bias depending on the standings of the readers own alliance with yours and/or whatever reputation your corp/alliance has in eve.

Ill go even further and say alot of people will also concider others *insignificant* if they arent from an established community.
Because of this, threads like this will be very skewed and biased and it will be impossible to get a straight answer.

Note: these are not my personal views, nor are they the views of everyone who visits this forum. Its merely something that Ive caught on within these forums.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

I am sure goons are not the only alliance to do these types of things, but here are a few things I've either seen myself, or was able to see via API keys and such.

Mild to What the?

1) Camp in the enemy, then have contests in local to see who can come up with the most creative, txt based porn/penis to post in local chat.

2) Make a link and call it something someone would click on like "Kill report" or "enemy fleet composition" but have the link actually be to the most horrific images imaginable. Everything from a 90 year old woman naked and being "simulated I'd hope" gang raped to a splatted body of someone that jumped out of skyscraper.

3) Recruitment scams. You apply to join. They say, okay, we need full API. Then, once they have that they say, if you awox, we have to pay, so wee need X million... usually about 10%-20% of your net worth... as an insurance policy You have 5 billion ISK, they need 500 million to a billion. As soon as you pay that, they have you hooked. You are NOT going to want to walk away from that investment.

Your next email will be, something like, director balked. We need another 1 billion and you have to give us a carrier/dread. Do you walk from the 1 billion you gave them, or fork over another 2 billion?

Doesn't matter, because if you fork that over, the next email will be for another 2 billion ISK worth of assets. This keeps going until they have everything you have... which they know what that is since they have your API.

AND, once they have bled you like that, well, you can pretty much forget ever getting in, because the last thing they want is a corp/alliance mate that is VERY angry for having been forced to hand over their entire net worth to get in.

4) Like the above, but they actually accept you into corp. They have you set up currier contracts with no deposit to move all your stuff. As soon as the currier contracts are up, they accept them, boot you from corp, and just keep all your stuff.

5) Another one I saw. Real life co-workers. One is in goons and one is with a rival. The rival, the boss of the goon, decides it will be better if they were in same corp, so applies to switch sides. He has a carrier and a dread. Goons agree to accept the boss/rival. They have him contract over his dread for them to move, and jump his carrier into goon space. Once there, they kill his carrier, pod him, and keep his dread.

When the boss asks the goon that works for him WTF?, the guy says "They said I had to go along, or they'd make my life so miserable, I'd never want to play EVE or any other MMO ever again".

This is just a small sample, and, as I said, I'd guess Goons are not the only ones that do these kinds of things.

To the guy who thinks the CFC treats this game "like a job." You are way off the mark.

All of the organisational structure and out of game tools exist to help manage the thousands of members and make it less like a job for anyone. Ever heard of "work smarter not harder"?

Why people hate Goons ? And The CFC ?

The stupid reasons:
1. Because they payed some random dude 500 mil to get in regardless the fact that there is a guide in GSF description. Stupid.
2. They were ganked in their piňada freighter. More stupid
3. They hate, because they are asocials living in a cellar. More stupid as there is no reason.

The valid reasons:
1. They were BoB
2. They were purged once or more times
3. They can't break our spirit and smiles on our faces
4. They claim to be elite pvper's. Flying to a sovereign space with ten t1 frigates is very "1eet" strategy indeed. Oh noes we got blobbed.

Simple as that. Even that we fly spaceships it still comes to people and their urges and feelings. (tear harvester activated)
In CFC each entity is treated on friend basis, not pet basis like in renter alliances. We help each other when it hits the fan.
Renting space is wrong. Being elitist is wrong. Fun is the right way.

<3 We have friends not overlords. We have fun in a game, not second jobs. Any of your arguments is invalid. <3

People hate Goons because Goons just want to have fun, in a nutshell. It's a game, and Goonswarm encourages their members to treat it as such. If you take internet spaceships seriously, then Goons are not your buddies.

It's also because they are an outside community that came into eve, rather than a community formed by it. So the relationships and ways of interacting already existed. Many of the interactions seem a little harsh to people who are not members. Remember, it's a comedy forum playing a spaceship game, not eve players who "happen" to be members of a comedy forum.

And there is a love for using they, there, their and they're in the right places which really gets up the noses of people who can't form sentences in their own language. Goons refuse to admire stupidity. And many eve players are, frankly, kinda dumb. The dumbest ones get scammed.

Goons are awesome. Adopt one today.
